wow, I've never really looked into the Lynx at all, but it looks promising. I think the thing I'm missing is fully manual mode to expose images at my will.
Why isn't the Lynx more popular, especially on these boards? It seems most people gravitate towards the ELECTRO 35 (oops)
Mechanical shutters and apertures of Lynxes are gummed up more often than on Electros (though clean well), after 40 years sitting in barn. DIY or send for CLA and have very nice camera which doesn't make you calculating what speed corresponds to this or that light.
Let me be emotional for a moment
😉
While Electro is like robust automatic gun, Lynx' are like duel pistols...they are ...elegant. Especially 5000 model. Wait, 14 isn't less - especially balance between huge lens barrel and body which here looks sleek (although isn't smaller than Electro). And they not only look good, they also work well.
Today I realized Lynxes don't need short throw, like Konica Auto S2 has - it's not elegant, it's simply rational. KAS/2 are somehow different breed. Wonderful and brutal - they are. Wonderful and elegant - so are Lynxes. Buttersmooth shutter release is final touch, making your choice.
While I like adult Electro 35 models, from automatic Yashicas I prefer Electro 35 MC - small, fast to use, nice glass, compensates filters automatically, dirty cheap compared to fairly better cultish GX and CC (more pronounced DOF). It's perfect prototype of modern P&S cameras.
