My first Iskra photos

Excellent shots!

I don't set the shutter speed before or after and haven't had any problems so far.

Here is an Iskra II shot I printed with Lith developer on Forteze paper last night. It is from a vacation on Crete. Shot with FP2+ developed in pyrocat-hd.

I like square, though.

With any Compur-type shutter I would not recommend fighting against the second tensionng spring that boosts the power of the shutter mechanism to the top speed. Surely when you try to change the speed when the shutter is cocked you can feel that the shutter doesn't like it. Please remember these guys are over 40 years old and need to be treated gently if you don't want to make decent, working ones even rarer.

I've downloaded a manual for Agfa Super Isolette. There is a warning to first set the exposure time and then to wind the shutter, especially at 1/500s. Is it necessary to do with Iskras too?

Where did you find a manual for a Agfa Super Isolette? I just received one from Jurgen Kreckel and took it out for the first time today. I've not figured out all the small details yet.

Since the Iskra is very similar to the Agfa Super Isolette, I've found that manual very practical.

Maybe I should have said that I only use 1/125. Why would anyone need anything else? 🙂

Heh in daylight I use 1/125, but the slower speeds are great with the folders and compur-type shutters; evenly distributed energy from the shutter means barely any mecanical shake when shooting. You CAN shoot at 1/15s and be sharp, pretty much everytime!

I snatched another Iskra from eBay too; the prices seems to be going up and I can use a backup ! Received it this morning, and it works great; there was a test roll of film inside, and the film advance is working great. Got lucky !
