The moment has finally arrived. I finished up my first roll of film (Kodak 400 CN), on my very first rangefinder, a Yashica GS purchased from another RFF member. The local Walgreens was great, they did a develop only, no scans, and left the roll uncut.

Just some photos of my wife and the boys and I am very pleased so far. I am planning a day off to downtown Chicago with my wife and hopefully will get some "street photos" on that trip but this first roll has taught me a lot. I seemed to have trained myself to avoid high contrast scenes with my Digital SLR but I just love the wide dynamic range on film. No problem with blown highlights. I also learned that overcast photos in general look really awful, dull and gray. Lots to learn.

Photos below are also my first negative scans on my Minolta Dual Scan IV.

A big thank you to the forum! Developing my own B&W film is just around the corner.

I'm glad you put it to such good use Ricardo. I never tried B&W film in it, looks really good. Jim

JimG,

A big THANK YOU for the Yashica and smooth purchase, it was a semi-GAS attack purchase as I picked up my Canonet GIII about a week earlier but then I ran into my film counter problem with that. Thank goodness I bought your Yashica.

I like the aperture priority function on the Yashica and it seems to fit well in my hands. The focus Ring is also easier initially for me to use compared to the Canonet.

I have two more rolls of Kodak 400CN and after that I will be developing my own. So the Canonet is up next to try. It will be hard to put the down the Yashica for now.
