Nikon Kiu sent me a Nikkor 105mm/2.5 lens in LTM to try it out.
Today, I spent a couple of hours downtown Pensacola with my two children.
I loaded the Bessa T with Fujicolor 100, and the Nikkor 105mm lens.
I took most shots at F2.5 and shutter speed 1/1000~1/2000.
I am impressed by the performance of this lens, and I hope that one day I will buy my own Nikkor 105 lens.
I used a lens hood with this lens, and sometimes I could not see well the focus patch of the rangefinder. I don't know the reason.
The lens is heavy, and it is similar to the well-known Nikkor 105/2.5 SLRlens [which I own].

Let me know what you think of these photos.

That is a really sharp lens with very nice creamy bokeh. Colour transmission seems superb also. It is on my want list now, alas no funds as I am going wide with a 35 Summaron next. Thanks Raid. 😀 😀

You're welcome John. It is also on my list of "lenses to get very soon when money is available for such stuff."

I should add that all 24 exposures came out great, but using a 90mm viewfinder was a set-back with a 105mm lens. I got some images that were not cropped nicely.

I don't own one now (100/2 Canon meets my needs) but used to own one in LTM, and liked it a lot.

Yes, it's very sharp, but what I consider its outstanding feature is its "microcontrast" -- it does a great job of rendering textures and similar other fine 3D detail.

For a '50s lens, it's also nicely resistant to flare when shooting into the light.

Annoyances and nitpicks: big and heavy (front-heavy at that); typical Nikkor non-linear aperture ring is a bother; focuses via single helical, so you have to hang onto focus ring while changing apertures (also typical Nikkor RF quirk.)

Maybe Kiu will pop up here and will comment on the performance of his lens?
Hi,
Sorry didn't mean to be ignorant. I was kinda occupied. I am glad the lens did OK...Don't forget as I mentioned before this lens was untested(by me). I am glad it seems to be Performing up to specs...Not bad at all for a 50 year old optic.
I wish I could buy it
Lure-in in progress😀 😀

Kiu,

The lure effect is showing. :bang:
This lens is an excellent performer, and it is great as a portrait lens.
If I find one at a super price I will go for it one day.
I already have Summicron, Elmarit, Elmar, Canon and Steinheil portrait lenses.
I would then sell the Canon.

Glad you like the photos.

Both are great lenses (both Sonnar types). The 105 fits better to a 50mm, is quiter larger heavier than the 85. cheers Frank

Frank,
Yes, the 105mm lens is heavier than the 85mm lens.
Should be fun to compare such lenses.
