My first web gallery

samsam, it is free i assume? the navigation is really clean: i like that. but, the load times for viewing images is terribly slooooow. i like a number of your shots a lot. you do plenty of street work and i enjoy what you put together!

Very nice clean look with simple navigation, and some good photos too.

Agree, very enjoyable.

I admit that when I click on a gallery and realize that it's flash, I'll often roll my eyes, groan, and prepare myself for a show with a lot of whizbang and little content.

Your gallery is a great example of an effective use of flash, and not an over-use or gratuitous use of effects.

It's simple, but effective.

I like the progress bar in the thumbnails.

Overall, this is one of the better flash galleries I remember seeing. 🙂

P.S. Tell your cat that my cat says Hi. 🙂

Very nice photos, but I disagree that this is an effective use of flash. The look and navigation can be as clean as you like, but with load times like these (cable modem), very few people will have the patience to view all of your photos. The casual viewer is forced to wait for image after image and is likely to just give up. If it weren't for the progress bars, I think most viewers would conclude that the site was broken; as it was, I almost felt like the multiple progress bars were mocking my as I tried to view your images. Is it possible that the slowness is because your image files are sized larger than they need to be for this gallery display?

I also don't like it that I have to figure out with no guidance how a key part of the interface works (the arrows on the large images). Site navigation should never be a mystery, even if the mystery is easily solved by moving the mouse around.

Hi guys,
well maybe i should lower the jpeg quality so the page can load quicker. i've just checked on my computer the total size of this flash gallery and it's about 14mb , it loads quickly for me on the server ( 10mbits/sec dsl connection ) but unfortunately people who still have modem will have to wait longer 🙁

Samsam, You can lower the size of your pictures without lowering the quality too much.

For web viewing, I think 800 pixel (on the longer side) is enough.

Trust us, your gallery will be so much more enjoyable for more people.
