My God, the MP is an Eternal Work of Art!

Congrats Magus! Sounds like a sweet machine 😎

I´ve just sold my Leica-CLA´d M3 which maybe is as close to the MP as it gets despite the Framelines (with a nice metal film speed reminder thou)...those things are gorgeous when serviced and a new MP will be even nicer i can imagine! I got an M6 instead and love it (..see recent tread) thou all the points you say against it are valid. ser. no on hot shoe, zink...blasphemy!

enjoy your jewel.. i mean tool!
(and run alot of rolls through it so the advance lever gets as smooth as a well worn m3 😉 )

What makes them special? MP's are more like the M2,3,and 4's than the M6's and M7's. Close, but if such a thing existed, I would tke a new in box M2,3,or 4, over a new in box MP. But that's jsut me.

I am glad to see you so pleased with your camera, Magnus and I hope you'll have the occasion to take many wonderful shots with it. I'll admit that just the other day I was playing with the a la carte cofigurator 😱 :bang: 😛 Perhaps someday. In the meantime, have fun & good light with yours.

William

I should redo mine. .72 finder, Oxblood leather, black paint, no engraving whatsoever.

As you say...someday. :bang: :bang:

I just did.

So pretty...yet so expensive.

So why buy one over, say, an M7?
Oh, you funny funny. 😛 You be kiddin', right? OK, golden apples and fuji apples... or Costco melons and Co-op melons.

The M7 is nice, handles nicely. But the MP...I mean, come on, that's a different melon you're holding in your hand. And you know that not all melons feel the same, right? 😉

Crazy is the word. Give us a couple of days and you'll be telling us you're looking for a dented M3 instead. 😀

Congrats, monsieur! You're a lucky man. Enjoy life and Leicas.

hey Magnus I understand you and your feeling with the MP

It happend to me too,
after great moments with a M6 and wonderfull shots I spent some time in the web and talked to my dealer.
It was before a trip to Prag,
I needed some days to decide, to buy or not to buy a wonderfull MP.
The on the castle in Prag I met a member of the RFF with a new MP and a Luici halfcase.
Dammed after this moment I could not resist,
I felt in love with the MP.
So back at home the very first thing I did,
I bought one.
And I'm proud, very proud.
First I wanted to sell the M6,
but haveing such marvouless moments in Prag I could not let here go,
the alos very beautilull black M6.

Now having both is a perfect feeling,
be shure after developing my Prag films (6 rolls, only black and white)
I will go out with the MP and I'll find the first motive to shot.

Hey I'm alos a fool like you....

I have a DS M3 and an MP and I thought nothing would give me the tinkle down te spine of the M3 until I had worked with the MP. A seriously good camera. If this ihs the last of the all mechanical film liecas then it is a high to end with, and we should enjoy as such. All the best parts of the modern Leicas with the feel and soul of the original M3. (sounds like Nirvana and maybe it is!!)
😉
