my Leica Store Berlin experience - snobbism at its best

That's less than $400 U.S. Doesn't sound like a bad price if it's in nice shape. Especially if the shop stands by it with a guarantee. Also, maybe they were willing to bargain...

I guess depending upon the exchange rate, the price can vary (it's at $ 0.82 right now, which works out to $ 451.00), but its condition didn't warrant that kind of price, in my opinion. Plus, I've never known any of the 'usual suspects' in Toronto to be in a bargaining mood, and I've been dealing with them since I was 14 (almost 30 years). Unfortunately, most of the ones there that did bargain are long out of business, unless someone can enlighten me!

B&H does extensive and ongoing training of their sales reps. They even have dedicated space for this. Walk in and ask a question. It shows.

I believe Leica requires a certain level of attitude before they approve a franchise. Cooter's Village Camera in Dallas is loaded with attitude. At least, as much as they can be for a place which mainly sells Hallmark cards.

What a nifty thread. I worked in food service for 6 years. If you're going to try any "attitude adjustment" with the person who brings you your food, only do it after you've eaten. Trying it before all the food has been served is asking for trouble. You don't want to know what I've seen slipped into people's food.

Once we were dinning at a restaurant, a group of friends. One of them was too harsh on the waiter. The other called him (the waiter) and told him: "Take a good look at him. It is his salad you will spit on, not ours"
