I was walking up the stairs with my M in hand, I tripped on a step and the camera landed right on the front of the metal screw on lens hood. Upon inspection, the hood has been bent against the front of the lens and I cannot turn the aperture ring, or remove the lens hood. The lens is a 40mm summicron-c. I just got the lens on friday :(.

How would I go about getting this lens hood off? Cutting it off is a last resort.

I would definitely let an experienced camera service technician to fix this. Sorry to read about this. Good luck!

Yeah...... </3..... I've already emailed Steve Choi to see what his take on the matter is.

I've some how managed to get the hood which was bent against the aperture ring preventing it from rotating now so that it allows the aperture ring to move freely without grinding. But now I just have a permanently attached lenshood.........

Cutting it off is a last resort.

Nevertheless, that is almost certainly going to be what you will have to do. If you don't have the tools and expertise (and insurance) to do this, I would strongly advise you not to attempt to do this yourself.
