Yes, Robert, I have already emailed Leica payment. They did not say how long the waiting time will be, but they sounded very nice.

I would also go for it. I cannot think of a way to replace it for that price. If you bought a used M8, you would have no way to tell if the same problem would crop up with that.

I think of it in the same way; if I don't like to see the dead line in each frame, and I don't have the time to fix each image somehow with some software, then I better decide to sell the camera as is and buy a replacement camera, or I fix it for $518. What is the dead pixels now seen will develop into additional dead lines?

OK then. I will go for it. I should get back a fully funvtioning CLA'd M8 whenever they can do the work.
Expect to wait several months before they do anything. My guess is you might get the camera back before January 15.

I will post here when I get back my M8. I am optimistic that it will be much sooner, Bob.

Leica NJ emailed me that my M8 is being mailed to me "now". It was about 5 weeks, I think once they diagnosed what needed to be done.
Bob: you were wrong here. Leica did things pretty quickly.

My M8 has arrived home today. What a relief. Leica calls rge "remapping" as being : manual pixel and column correction.
