Does anyone know if Canon, Nikon, or SONY would also replace a broken sensor for free?
I mean, is this something that we can expect from all manufacturers of the advanced digital cameras?
Because the other manufacturers don't have such problems,Raid

Would they replace or repair cameras due to other defects!

Fuji did for an issue with improperly assembled/manufactured aperture blades on X100 cameras that were manufactured right after the tragic tsunami.
But about three years later they began charging for lens replacements.
However, based on the anectotal evidence here and elsewhere, Leica is the most generous brand when it comes to repairing defects beyond the warranty period.
The time it takes to accomplish these free replacements is another matter altogether.

About five years ago sensor failure occurred in my wife's four-year-old Canon mini-dv camcorder. Sensor was replaced free in our Minsk service center.Does anyone know if Canon, Nikon, or SONY would also replace a broken sensor for free?

I sent in an out-of-warranty M9 with a different sensor defect (some sort of permanently bonded schmutz that looked like about 600 dust spots). Leica replaced the sensor free of charge. I sent in the camera, a card with some files that showed the defect and some prints with the defect circled in pen. I was very happy with the service.
BTW, I think if you see a crack on the bottom-right of your image it is a defect in the top-left of your sensor.

Don't worry! They recently replaced mine without charge, and you get a free 'tune up' and new body covering.

A bit of personal experience with the brands...
Sony NEX-7, out of warranty, had to replace entire shutter assembly. Sony quoted a very reasonable amount plus shipping, and entire turnaround was 15 days.
Fujifilm X-E1, hot pixel cluster on sensor, hot pixels on LCD and one broken Q button out of box. I was in China when I found out the problem, so I had to send the camera in for repair instead of returning it as I should. No charge, Fuji replaced the lcd, fixed button and did pixel remapping. Entire turnaround was an amazing 6 days!
Canon, various repairs out of warranty, lens turnaround is usually longer than a month - I suspect some L lenses must be serviced in Japan. My 7d shutter replacement was quite expensive, but they sent the camera back in under two weeks.
If it takes Leica 8 weeks or more to replace a sensor from a not-so-old body (Isn't the 7d about as old as the M9?), that's much, much slower than the industry norm.
