and it survived better than I did. Was driving yesterday and a car whipped out right in front of me as I was driving about 40mph - I had no time to even step on the brakes as they just pulled directly infront of me as I approached them.

I had my MP srapped around me and at the impact, my airbag went off, I spun 3 times and by the time it was over I walked out of my car while my head was pouring out blood all over my face and clothes.

It appeared the MP flew up and bashed the top of my head and gave me 3 gashes. After I recovered I examoned the MP and it had blood and some skin chunks embedded. I spent hours cleaning it and it looks good as new now.

It survived a head on collision with my head, but my head isnt looking so hot.

I have attached a P&S digital pic of my clothes - later I will have the film developed of the ones I took of myself.

So to those who are wondering how tough the MP is, its tough!

Holy crap - another flaw in a Leica product? Now the MP is leaving a scarlet cast on some fibers? Outrage!

Quite frankly, I don't know how Leica lives with themselves.

(Glad you're okay - I have to go put my camera in the trunk now.)

When I'm driving with a camera and I don't have them in a bag in the trunk, I hang it at the head rest on the passenger seat. I can grab it from there if need be and when I have to break hard it doesn't get damaged fom bumping into something hard.

Actualy I didn't thought about my head and was more worried about my camera, but from your experience I learn that my head could be the hard surface my camera bumps into. Autsch!

Glad yer ok!!!!

You could sell the clothes to student film-makers, hell, keep em as props - real blood is diffiucult to come by easily!

I hope you got their insurance info, good luck

Steve

The acid test is do you now feel you need to sell your analogue MP and buy a M8, or did the accident not affect you?

glad you're allright, the only question now is if the word "Leica" is permantly scarred into your head now😉

good luck!

Glad to hear you survived!

Sounds like the airbag helped -- other than the bit with the camera. True?

Auto accidents often happen in the blink of an eye. There are a LOT of people driving who should not be behind the wheel. Between legal and illegal drugs and meds they are driving impaired. Not to mention those who somehow passed the license test without having the requisite skills.

Years ago I picked up some folks at the airport. As we started to leave the pick-up zone I made them buckle up. They were from a state where that was not yet required. Within a minute, someone cut across traffic right in front of us and I t-boned him. No-one was injured. The police issued four tickets to him for a variety of offences. Even after it was repaired, my car was never the same.

About thirty years ago the common catch phrase was "Drive Defensively". Maybe it should be revived.

Wow...I'm glad that you're okay.

I took a cat to the head once in a similar accident. We both survived none the worse for the experience and my wife is still getting mileage out of the story at parties.

Actually, it would be:

acieL

but each letter would be flipped.

I'm guessing you didn't have the noctilux attached, or you wouldn't be typing right now. Glad you're okay,
Mike

Man... glad you're still alive, and with enough sense of humor to write about it.

How's the Leica doing? Were you already bandaged when you cleaned it? Did the rangefinder get out of whack? Imagine how the M7 would be if it had hit you over the head! Does the passport warranty cover things like this? What does your insurance say?

Seriously, Steve... I'm glad you're fine! 🙂

No it's not. There are tons of it, wandering all around you, ready to be harvested.

OK, that was a little bit dark, but I don't apologise...
