I usually wait till I have 6 rolls of B&W film, then I send it back to Toronto to a pro-lab, where I get the film developed, scanned to CD, and the CD's sent back to me in Quito. Yeah it does take time and is a pain, but with the quality that I receive, I can not complain. These photos are from June and July 07, and I just got these back this week, October 29th.
[Not bad for a evil SLR Nikon F3HP user 😀]

Nice shots. Maybe it's my laptop but the contrast seems a bit high to me, but that could have been what you were after. I have been able to get much tamer results from 100SS by pulling it slightly in bright contrasty conditions.

Interesting pics from my angle as I have just ordered some neopan 100 and 400 from Freestyle and will start off developing it in D76. I have heard the 400 pushes very well and some of the 100 shots I see occasionally here impress me ... I want to try some in my Bronica RF645! 🙂

I haven't been happy with the Neopan 400, but I've only shot about a dozen rolls so far. Compared with the HP5 I'm more familiar with, the Neopan 400 exhibits a "muddiness" that I also see evident in some of your shots above. Maybe it depends on the developer. I find your shots with the 100 (above) much nicer. Anyone want to swap a fresh bulk roll of Neopan 400 for HP5?

Hi Mark.

I've just joined RFF and I'm getting back into film after a bit of a break (I was seduced by the dork side - i.e. digital)

Joking aside, I really do love digital as it has the instant gratification factor that's missing from film. However, for me, it lacks something I can't quite put into words right now. Anyway, I like your Neopan 400 shots a lot and have decided to run a few rolls through my newly-acquired M6.

My question is; is the film still 'contrasty' in even light / indoors as it is in sunlight? I know much depends on the lens but I like the a full tonal range as well as deep blacks and pure whites.

Your shots certainly seem to suggest it's a great film in good daylight, but winter in the UK isn't always kind enough to provide much other than drab, grey days.

All the best. Paul.

Hi Mark, nice set of pics. On my screen the 100SS is not bad, but the 400 is a bit blown out.
Never tried Neopan. Maybe I ought to check it out.

John: Excellent photos as usual.
