Just won a Bessa L Body on Ebay a bargain for £35.00 I am using a 25MM Skoppar on Leica III Body but the TTL feature should be useful any reports or opinions on the camers would be welcome

The bessa L is a fine machine, the meter is very good. Clearely you'll need an external VF for the 25 Skopar that you'd also need for the Leica. Its also a good lens choice with the click focus scale.

The L has a noisier shutter than the Leica and the build is not that of a III but it's a good fast camera in use that I'm sure you'll be happy with. Loading it is also not from the bottom like the Leica.

Well done Peter - the L is a fine camera and at that price you can take it anywhere. I've used mine a lot more than I expected to witha Heliar 15 or the Skopar 25. It is really light, and I particularly like the fact that you can see the over/under exposure LEDS on top of the camera - you don't have to raise the camera to your eye to shoot which can be handy. Of course , if you've pre-metreed the scene with a handheld this also applies..

The only thing I'd say about using TTL is make sure your flash will cover the 25mm angle of view...

Enjoy it!

I just got back from a backpacking trip a couple weeks ago. Six days in the Rocky Mountains and the only camera I took was my L and 25/4. Worked flawlessly, produced stunning results on Kodak 100UC, and saved a ton of weight compared to my friend's super-pixel-digi-machine. Truly a great camera.

Some interesting points thank you.I have particular problems with loading the Leica especialy outdoors I have sometimes wasted a significant part of a film trying to loads it quickly.and the metering will take some of the gueswork away.
