My new Iskra

This week I received my Iskra, bought from Alex-photo, on eB*y. His description was dead on and shipping was 9 days to my door and well packed.

It's as clean as can be wished for and though the focus is a tad stiff and the top of the bellows fold isn't perfect, seems to be in great shape. There were some fine bits of backing paper in the bellows, which seems to indicate that it was being used as well as a roll of film which I'm used to check that the winding device works properly; it does.

Best of all, the standards are rock solid. 🙂

I've some Tri-X 400 and 'Pro' to play with and some Ekfe r25 on the way and will give it a workout this week to ensure all is well.

Does anyone have info on lens hoods for this camera, or filter sizes/sources? How 'bout tips in general?

Nice buy, I love mine now I've fixed a light leak by an overzealous repairer. Use it and enjoy, the lens should be tack sharp.
The filter size is 33mm screw fit and rather tricky to find

Congrats. The Iskra is a really good camera.

I like TriX at 1000 or Neopan 400 at 640 for developing in Diafine. For slower film, Efke 25 or 100 developed in Rodinal. I also like Fuji slide film in it, the Provia 400 proving a good combination.

You don't really need a lens shade. If you are worried because of the sun shining into or near the lens, turn the camera upside down or to the side so that the door will act as a partial shade.

The filter size is 33mm screw on, which is very hard to find. Best idea is to get a Series VI push on adapter, size 1 3/8in or 35mm. You can then use series VI filters, lens hoods etc.

I have loads of pictures from the Iskra in my Fotopic galleries, and a couple in the RFF gallery.

I use the Yellow filter from a colapsible Industar-50; fits the Iskra nicely.

The lens design is very simple and the coating efficient, the Iskra /never/ flares. Believe me, I tried ! I shoot the into the light every chance I get 😀

How nice! I've coveted an Iskra since I saw some of the images that can be produced by that fine gear. Way to go!
