Nonplayer Character
One of the little window on the M body illuminates the RF patch. I notice this patch is slightly dimmer when the Noctilux is mounted compared to a smaller lens so making it slightly harder to focus. Am I imagining this?

My first Velvia (RVP100) roll. Ever. Very different from the Kodak E100GX & E100G.

It's strange that, when we freeze a visual moment, we "see" silence.
There is "heart" between eyes and ears.

[Sick Leaves]
When the leaves are healthy
They look just like "leaves"
That tend to be "ignored as a whole"
But when they're sick
They become faces
A crowd that moan and frown
Looking at me
------
I just got a Summilux 35/1.4 preA, but have only shot with it on the R-D1s. I really want to see how it performs on films, but I just can't take the Noctilux off the Hexar.... I love this combination too much.

deepwhite, I like the "visual silence" a lot, "monochrome" color ! 🙂 Velvia 100(F ?) is great, so is Velvia50 !! You should try the latter one also.

It seems that we have a quite identical lens setup now 😱😉 (SA 21/3.4, 35/1.4 pre, 50/1.0) Some time ago I also used the Hexar RF but sold it (regrett it !). The only problem I had with the combination Hexar RF / Noctilux was the lens lock release button. When I grabed the camera, sometimes I unmeant had pressed that button and the Noctilux was unlocked 😱 Otherwise, the Hexar RF is superb and the 1/4000s really useful.

... the higher shutter speeds, the very well designed VF with its clear visible RF patch and shutter speeds (much better than the ZI), the via shutter speed dial selectable AE / AEL mode, the shutter button that allows to take handheld shots at 1/8s with repeatedly good results, the sturdy build, the fast film loading .... If only the repair / servicing situation would be better 🙁 Maybe I will go for another one in the future 🙂

When I got my Hexar RF my M6TTL was quickly relegated to backup. Great camera. I got most of the way through a deal to sell the Hexar once, and decided at the last minute I couldn't (and shouldn't).

that was written on the shop window of an old record store that went out of business. i thought it was kind of apt given that i not only use film, but also a rangefinder. we will rise again ; )

@maddoc - yeah I found that we got very similar setup a few days ago, in your other post. I love that when I found someone loving the same things as I do. And I think there are some more that also love this setup in RFF? 🙂
It's a bit embarrassing, but I must confess that the reason I got the Hexar RF (Limited 2001) was because of a picture on the magazine. A cool guy with a cool cam.
My girlfriend saw that page first and showed it to me, and we both said "wow...." Then here it is. Looking even cooler with the Noctilux.
Mine's got the famous vertical alignment problem. Luckily I'm not too bothered by it (or should I say almost never?). What I don't like is the ev+- wheel, which is not locked like the R-D1s. I never got a wrong shot with that though, because I'm aware of the problem and always check before each shot. Yet "checking before each shot" can be less satisfying sometimes....

More "before the typhoon". In Taiwan, you'll always see a lot of people carrying their cameras running around, taking shots of clear skies and beautiful clouds. Then they go home and wait for the flood....

I've taken a lot of "reflection of buildings in buildings" shots, but this one is the most clear of all. Yet I think the composition is not good enough, for now it looks a bit tilted.

The typhoon's been really strong, so strong that we don't have to go to the office today. Yet I'm still working at home. Simply too much work.
Around 6:00pm I looked out from the balcony and saw the beautiful scene on the mountain. So I mounted the Noctilux on the R-D1s (no film in any film cam at that moment! can't believe that!), switched it to B/W, ISO1600 and took a few shots.
I'm going out to buy some Solaris films and see how it'll work with the Noctilux.

[The Blooming & the Sick]
I focused at the sick leave, and to my surprise, found that the out-of-focus flowers got the "glow" that people love-or-hate about. Some technical imperfection!
[Noctilux & Spotlight]
I've been trying to shoot in the dark, because I was holding a Noctilux. Then one night I thought, what if the subject's got a spotlight on it?
The result gives me a weird feeling. Subject too real in a surreal atmosphere. Gotta experiment more.

I never understood why the bees would choose to build the hive in a metal box. There.
I found it interesting taking ordinary snapshots with the Noctilux. That's how I want to remember these trivial moments in my life, like these three chairs in the bus stop before my door:

So far I'm enjoying taking the Noctilux everywhere, and forget that it's a expensive lens.
From now on I'll keep the casual everyday-life-snapshots for myself, and will only update this thread when there's something other than you've seen here.

My lens (Noctilux) is off to Leica for calibration again (together with the M4-P) and I haven't heard back from them about how long it will take. Until then ... M5 + 35mm Summilux pre-ASPH ! 🙂

Haha, yeah we're moving to the lux35 preA thread together. I think a lux35 preA is the best companion for a Noctilux user when his 50/1 is temporary unavailable.
I'm waiting for the Solaris 400 film to be in stock again, and try it with the Noctilux. I think it'd be very interesting to see the result.

I recently got back my first test roll of pushed Fuji Pro800Z. At 1600 it displays many of the same qualities as pushed 400H@800 - creamy colours, minimal grain. I quite like it.
Anyway, here goes:
Everywhere there are groups in Israel you'll see mobile blood-vans with large queues outside, like this one at a demonstration for Gilad Shalit, the young soldier captured and held by Hamas in Gaza.
These two were taken on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. The whole country comes grinding to a halt: there are no cars on the streets, no noise from televisions, radios, construction; nothing. Just families and kids spilling out into the road to reclaim the streets. It's amazing how human a city is when you remove all the noise...

I gotta try these "pushing" method. They really look good. (I do love the Pro400H, by the way, just never pushing it.)
