well, it's at the postal outlet down the road.
i need to go and pick it up in a few minutes.

i'm really excited about this one, the pics i've seen of it make it look new, not a mark or wrinkle on/in it!

there are no wrinkles in the curtains of this p. and i'm pretty sure that one of my others has none either.

the body is in great shape, no dents or dings and that's a first for me.
it arrived in a nice leather case and that may help explain the body.
the case is in pretty good shape too.
the shutter seems quieter than the others also. might be my imagination though.
the rf is dead on (after a quick check, with 2 different lenses).

the major positive though are the frame lines.
they practically glow in there. i can actually see the 35 lines w/o trying so damn hard.
that is a great surprise and a plus over the other 2 bodies.

so, a bit quieter and brighter frame lines, fantastic!

the not so great side is the film advance.
it makes a noise like a fingernail being run along a zipper when i advance the film.
my others do not do that. not so if i advance slowly but more so the quicker i advance it.

i hope that doesn't mean a gear is hitting something in there.

it even came with a ta soft release. hard to beat that!

anyone have an m grip for sale?

film advance on the new P

film advance on the new P

That noise on film advance sounds like it may be something to watch out for. It could be as simple as a piece of film caught in the gears, or it could be just an alignment type situation. Before I gave it any hard use, I'd think seriously of having it looked at by a pro. First thing to do is to check for that fragment of film that might be in there... bright lights and small tweezers!
Otherwise, congrats on another aquisition. You'll never corner the market on those, but they are "purty"..

i just talked with the seller harry.
the camera was cla'd about 3 years ago and it made that same noise before and after the cla. the cla was done by one of the biggies out there.
i have bought from this seller before and trust his word.
i am concerned about the noise cause it's not in the other bodies i have. but it doesn't sound like grinding or damaging in any way.
time will tell, i plan to use it tomorrow and see how it feels.

I have a Canon on Canon, Nikkor on Canon, Leitz on Canon, Steinheil on Canon, Schacht on Canon, ...

Congratulations on the Canon P. You have me matched one for one on SP's. Now you know you are in trouble...

LOAD IT and report on the gears. Chances are if it made it 45+ years, it is Okay.
