So, did you do the back, too???
Took a look at the Flicker folder - gotta say, I NEVER would have done that on a dare, but the finished product looks truly great! Did Morgan cut the pieces for you? I recall he said he could do the front but not the back?

I've thought of doing a someting similar with mine (grey lizard or so...)
Did you thake the black "rubberette" away, first, or is the red leather over it?
Just curious.

wow, amazingly, thought people would respond negatively to this... well, didn't do the back, i cut the leatherette myself, just ordered it by the sheet. Xacto knives are the best... I filed and felted the grip and added the leatherette to that as well... yeah, it's an eye turner, we'll see how long it lasts

Ivan, did you stick the red leather on top of the rubber covering, or peel it up and attach the leather to the body?
PS - how do you like the Ultron? How does it perform on the R-D1 sensor???

I stuck it right on the rubber. Seemed to hold better that way. the stick adhesive on the leather is great, it's pretty tough actually. Oh the ultron... possibly my fave on the r-d1, then it's the nokton 40... by all means get one, you'll enjoy it...

Incredible work, it looks like one of those very expensive Leica Anniversary Special Editions.
And I think it will last long. I changed the worn vulcanite of my M3 when I bought it for some leather from Morgan and it looks as nice as the first day....though I had to remove the vulcanite (a pest) and leave the metal surfaces like a mirror.

I'm not crazy about the look (personally), but you did a great job and it's certainly unique! Congrats!
