Hello,
Have already posted this in the dpreview Leica forum so apologies for members of the two forums who have already seen my post...
Finally decided to spend my week visiting Spain with friends in a road trip from Paris! Quite intensive, a few days only to visit cities including Seville, Grenada and Cordoba. I could not really be in the mood of street photography all the time and it was not the primary purpose but still managed to get dazzled and overwhelmed by the beauty of this country and its people. So here a few photos to share and as always your comments are most welcome.
I am starting with a few pictures to put you in the mood. Spain is a colorful country with the typical Mediterranean influence. As we know climate influences social habits (“to know the people of a country, study its geography”) and indeed the central and southern parts of Spain and even the northern are colored by a breeze of chaos, that make people lively, friendly and unpredictable.
All shot with my R-D1 and a Summilux 35mm ASPH. Pictures convereted in Epson PhotoRaw
Some views that I won’t see in Paris:
The Colors of San-Sebastian, Spain
In restaurants I often saw empty chairs and tables. People would mostly enjoy standing up, grouping talking and eating tasty tapas at the same time!
Tapas in San-Sebastian, Spain
Old Ladies Drinking, Salamanca, Spain
As a matter of fact, you’d often find people walking and talking along the streets and squares, in groups of 3 to 6 all ages, with old people being exceptionally visible and always well dressed
The Salamanca Girls, Spain
The kid, San Sebastian
Vibrant colors make the scenery lively.
The Grenada 11pm Night Gathering
This lady needs a third hand, difficult to manage the cell phone, cigarette and can of beer at the same time but she succeeds!
The Third Hand, Cordoba, Spain
Dona as I called her is fully confident and assuming, a leader. Love her expression
Dona, Cordoba, Spain
A couple of hard working citizens
The Gardner of Sevilla, Spain
Mary of Cordoba, Spain
Homeless chatters, they looked happy (shot at iso 1600 f1.4)
Cigarette and Beer, Grenada, Spain
The poor guy who could not focus, Cordoba
Best

When we were over in Europe last summer I realised why Bluetooth headsets were invented - so Parisian ladies could walk the dog, smoke, and be on the phone at the same time, and guys in Barcelona could smoke and ride a scooter while on the phone...I forgot to include drinking, though!

Nice pix - I've been to Spain several times - I think your photos capture the (generally) relaxed feel on the streets and resturants that I've experienced.
