Or at least, that's what it seems like. Every scan I've ever got from it has been grainy (even on XP2, Portra and E6), unsharp and has bad colors. Take a look at a recent test shot with Reala:

And here's one I just scanned in, taken on Elitechrome on a sunny day. The actual slide is bright and vibrant with a vivid red for the train:

What explains these poor colors? I thought for a while that the lab was making some kind of mistake (using old chemicals, etc.) but with slide film, I can see with my own eyes what it's supposed to look like. I've tried Vuescan and the included Epson scan, they both give more or less the same results. What gives?
