Unfortunately, I was raised as a meat eater and although I love my vegetables I do not believe people I can have a good healthy existance with out meat. I have known many vegetarians in my life, most not what I would call healthy specimens. My Nephew is a Hockey Player and is extremely good, his problem, he is a vegetarian and has no body weight, He's already loss out on 3 scholarships because he refuses to eat meat to gain more mass and muscle. The coachs have told his father he needs meat in his diet if he wants to compete.
Yes, as a nurse, we are also taught of the importance of meat in our diets. My vegetarian friend however is pretty healthy as well as the rest of his family. They are not Vegan however, as they do drink milk and eat eggs. Hockey however he would NEVER be able to do. I can crush him like a twig!
The guy is posting photos from a beautiful animal and gave some food, there is nothing wrong with it. so why are you trying to be smart-asses, keep your comments to you and move on. It is a free country right? And this is a photography site.
Yes, the photos are pretty and I am not judging anyone. It is an interesting discussion though, but I've said all I've needed to and shall leave things be. I would be interested in learning more about possible harm to feeding animals from a biological/ecological factual viewpoint. Cookies for sure are most likely NOT good!

Nice images. We have a lady here in our neighborhood who has "adopted" the geese on the lake. For 7 years now, she feeds them like clockwork and they know her voice and coming zooming in when she parks her car and starts calling. Pretty fun to watch, ...
Now, the deer in our parts are SUICIDAL!
Really. In the past few years, I have had no less than 5 deer strike our Toyota Camry (car is now junk, or beer cans) and 3 deer totalled my son's truck. The final strike, so far, was when I hit a deer who committed suicide on the parkway through Peachtree City at night and guess who hit the deer on a BMW K1200LT motorcycle at 60 mph?

I see at least 1 or 2 dead deer everyday on our local roads. Sometimes as many as 9 or 10 deer are either in the yards in our subdivision, or standing in the road or beside the road every day at night, during the day, during rain, you name it, and the hair stands up on the back of neck every time!
I am getting to where I despise deer. It's a shame, too, as I think they are beautiful... and deadly.
Looks like I will have even more fun watching out for Elk as they are now heavily populated in the Smoky Mtns. where you will find me quite often.

Nice pictures....I really cant support you feeding them just for kicks. The deer population is out of control and non-natural feeding is a giant issue.
I do not hunt but I have no issue at all with hunting or hunters. There is a reality to the animal world that 3500lbs of corn will not influence.
So what happened to the natural predators of humans and can we cull humans because they are out of control with massive over population. And what is natural about going to a supermarket. If I'm not mistaken the USA has the worlds biggest obesity problem due to un-natural feeding (followed by the UK).
Don't get me wrong as I'm not against hunting. It is the most natural and instinctive thing that you can do as a human. Unfortunately there are far to many who see it as a sport. It isn't.

The title sounds like a vintage porno movie name. Like an 8mm reel you'd find in someone's dad's basement after they croak.

I don't discriminate. Cow, chicken fish or deer...all very yummy. I personally love a good venison steak.

I love animals too, including deer. But they are very destructive of vegetation, especially in the large numbers that have accumulated since we (man) have pretty much wiped out their natural predators.
Here in Southern Ontario they are in danger of destroying the Carolinien forest - this the only area of Canada that the typical forest cover of the Carolinas reaches. We are forced to have deer culls along the north shore of Lake Erie every few years to do what the wolves used to do - keep them in check.
Fortunately - or unfortunately depending on your point of view - too many white-tails in herds eventually contract diseases which wipe out large numbers from time to time.
I love nature and I'm not a hunter (except with a long lens!) but I believe feeding them is a great disservice to nature's natural balance and to the deer themselves. They are wild animals and acclimating them too much to man just isn't good.
Let Nature be.

This thread ceased being about Leica M photography a while ago. More into Hunting, feeding wild-life, meat eaters and vegetarians.

What makes you think that if we start culling the human herd, we won't start with you? Just sayin'.
If you really think about the "obesity problem," it's from two factors at least that I find ridiculously obvious:
Humans evolved to eat whatever they could whenever they could, because otherwise we'd starve. Instinct, basically.
And there is money to be made and food to be put on the table by selling people things which they enjoy eating. It's not necessairly more profitable to sell things that are good for you, and arguable less profitable. You can sell more chocolate bars for more money than celery sticks command on the open market.
The fact that the USA has access to more food than is healthy is a result of huge efforts to secure a plentiful food supply. Victim of success, if you will.
I would suggest a large part of it is very poor civic planning, but it's bit 20/20 hindsight to fault people for not foreseeing the kinds of trouble that can occur when they spread out and become more productive.
We teach kids all they need to know to stay fit and healthy in elementary school. But when they walk out of class, there are vending machines and billboards and commercials encouraging them to consume and not think about the consequences. I don't think anybody would suggest a return to routine famine is preferable to obesity. An obese person in the US still has a long, productive lifespan.
Hunting IS a sport, by any definition of the word. It takes skill, mental and physical practice, and experience. There are distasteful people in every pursuit. I was at a concert in a very small venue the other night. Two photographers were there taking pictures of the bands and the crowd. Then two dancing girls came out during a performance and the photographers proceeded to take hundreds of pictures of the two, blocking everyone's view and turning it into "look at the photographers" instead of enjoying the performance. If they didn't have cameras they would have been kicked out for being sexually creepy. How many pictures of a dancing girl's ass and tits can you take and justify it as "art" or journalism"?
Don't get me wrong, I like watching girls dance, and I don't mind taking pictures of pretty girls, but at some point there's a line between "decency" and "absurd and creepy." They were well across that line and into interfering with the show.
See, I can differntiate between the behavior of individuals and a greater whole who share enthusiasm for an activity. You should give it a try.
