If any of you are in the San Diego area, or find yourself passing through, make a visit to the San Diego Museum of Art at Balboa Park where my series "Paris: Dialogue" is currently on display (thru June or July):

Congratulations on your show...I like the look and feel of the photos shown in the link...
Hopefully, we can make this show...San Diego is only a two hour drive from here...

Thanks all. It is neat to see your name silkscreened onto a museum wall. And nice to see the pictures up too...

Beautiful, Beautiful images!

But the gear head in me has to ask..
what cameras/lenses/taking media/printing media did you use?

next question -
are you selling prints or signed limited editions?

Thanks!
Stephen

Thanks Stephen.

Gear-wise: for this series I used, well, none of the things I've bought from you! The secret sauce is the homemade lens, cobbled together from a single plastic element (99-cent store magnifying glass), an extension tube, and lots of tape.

The camera doesn't really matter, but I made the lens Nikon mount so I use an FM2n or F3HP. Oh, though it does need to be an SLR so I can see what's in "focus".

Film-wise I shoot on 400 speed print film. I have no aperture control, so I need the latitude of print film, and 400 works out well exposure wise for most situations.

The final prints are Epson pigment inks on Hahnemuhle PhotoRag 308. The look and feel of the watercolor paper seemed most appropriate for these images.

And... as for selling the prints: yes, but I don't really have the backend in place yet. If you're interested, contact me or PM me for now...

thanks,
Jonas

Perhaps a little late to be mentioning this but this Thursday, June 9, in conjunction with this exhibit at the San Diego Museum of Art as part of their Summer Salon Series 2011, we will be presenting an evening of projections and multi-lingual poetry readings. Yes, the Dialogue poems will be presented in English, Chinese and Spanish, with some French thrown in for good measure. As for my pictures? Their language is universal, man...
