I recently received an old Zeiss Ikon contessa where the whole lens assembly moved to the right. So I cannot close the camera. Since I didn’t want to break the camera or the lens while trying to force it back I decided to ask if there is a way to fix it? Thanks in advance.
Oof. As you already stated yourself the camera clearly has been "man-handled" as the rangefinder keil-prism obviously should align with the little central window for it in the camera body.
There should be a slotted retaining ring looking into the film chamber from the back of the camera. Maybe you can use a spanner wrench and slightly loosen and it rotate the assembly until it sits right.
However I worry there might be more wrong with the camera since usually there should be locating pin in the back of the shutter unit to prevent this kind of rotation from happening unless the shutter unit is removed.
