All train trips have been stopped in China to allow rescue workers and equipment free running on the lines. We were going to go tomorrow, now it seems we may be stuck here as we cant afford the heavy price of the plane tickets

Well a little luck, we found a somewhat cheap ticket by air to shenzen then we will go into HK that way. Dont know which way is the easiest but we will figure it out. We hope to arrive in HK Saturday around 5-6 pm depending on how we get into the city. Seems we will be staying for 5 days, our plane leaves SZ on the 21st back for CQ. Things I havnt figured out yet is if my construction bank of china atm card will work there, someone said I should be able to use it there to directly pull out HKD from my chinese bank account. Also still dont know if my china mobile phone will work there, will see when I get there I guess.
I know the girlfriend will spend at least 3 days of the 5 shopping for clothes, I would like to get one day of camera shop browsing in. Also something to wonder about, here in CQ I wear my backpack on my back with no problems, sometimes people get the bottoms cut out of their bags but its never happened to me. I was thinking maybe taking my matin camera bag instead, also because its nice that its not so warm but cannot hold a water bottle. Any thoughts?
Also looking at staying at Sun Kong hostel in Causeway bay.

The only places that I can think of that might come close to that price are the Chungking Mansions on Nathan Road. Can't say if you'll get a private bathroom though.
