So, I know that many of us have names for our cars (Mine have been Molly I all the way up through Molly VI at the moment,) and what-not, but I haven't noticed anyone naming thier cameras! I for one, feel that if you love your camera/s it's only appropriate to give them a name.

For starters, my newly aquired M2, who has been well used, but not terribly abused, is about to have a new dress put on her when it comes in the mail... Red Wine Snakeskin from Aki... She is going to be my whore, going everywhere and being used as I please... So her name is:

"Sylvia" (my whore)

I know that It sounds vulgar, and I am, generally speaking, not in the least bit vulgar... and never towards women, for sure... which is why I find it so very fitting to antithesize (If that's a word) the very boundings of which I have been raised and wish to act, in accordance to life.

So those of you who do name your cameras, what are thier name??? And if you've not got a name... think about it, and get back to us w/ what you've come up w/!

My lubitel's name is "the Black box"

The Rebel's name is "Ponch"

The Canonet doesn't have a name yet until I get her fully operational. I think it's going to be the silver surfer though.

I don't name mine. It makes it all the more painful when I have to sell them to fund another purchase. I only abbrev' the names. Maybe Connie for the Contax, Kev for the Kiev (Kevin is my dad), and Bruce for the Leica (after my mum's Uncle Bruce)... Then again it would get a bit complicated, I'll leave the cameras with their original names ;)

Just as there's no point to naming a deaf dog, there's no point to naming a camera: if you call it, it won't come. (groan)

I understand completely... which is why only one of my cameras has a name... I hope never to have to sell her, unless some serious financial burden comes upon me...

Frank, sir... your subscript says it all: "wiseguy" ;)

The one with the big lens I call Vera. ;)

Actually I never name anything. Well I do once in awhile call whatever is not
working at the time all kinds of names, but nothing I can type here.

I don't name my cameras, and - with one special exception - I've never named any of the six cars I've owned.

heh... I'm right there w/ you... did it once while taking an exam when my mechanical pencil broke. The room filled w/ laughter and I was I was strongly repremanded by my professor (who is also a good friend of mine out-side of the classroom) and then he proceeded to give me a pencil and stated "continue, s***head."

I aced the exam, and the class... so it's all good!

I may name my Air-force marked half-plate Bertha... cos it's huge, unreliable, and you need to take a lotta care with it ;)

Too funny!

My friend just recently aquired a pentax 6x7 w/ several lenses... An older gentleman who came into her work (she sells cameras at Circuit City) looking for a PnS camera that he could take shots of his grandchildren w/ got into a conversation w/ him about how she shoots w/ film, and he offered to sell her his kit for the total amount of $1. Talk about jealousy... I got her that job!

She of course took the offer and thanked him much, but she only had a $5 bill on her, so she gave it to him and asked that he please buy them all a pack of gum from her or something. She was raised well. I'm proud of her!

I shot her when she was taking modeling shots of Matilda w/ my Ricoh XR-7 that she got from me.

At the rate I'm shooting anything right now (I'm in publishing and it's our production/printing season) all my cameras could be better named "Paperweight".
