Evening folks,

I'm looking for a strap for my new to me Contax G1. It came with the short original strap but I'm 6ft 3 and it sits uncomfortably on my chest.

I've had a search on here and people seem to recommend Gordy's straps a lot. The only thing I don't like is the width on them. They seem too thin for me.

Any ideas? :)

I've used the OP/TECH Neoprene Straps on various cameras for 15 years -- they are the best, expecially with heavier models...

Leica bog standard strap, 45$ if I remember correctly.

You can make it quite long (don't know if it would be long enough for you though), is quite thin, the shoulder pad is more than grippy enough, and it is always manages to stay out of the way.

DITTO

Bone basic and always invisible in use.

The Gordy straps are nice. And they look so classy on rangefinder type cameras! Plus, they're quite a bargain, considering the quality.

If you don't like the width, add on the optional neck pad. It does make the strap very comfortable. I use that combo on my M6.

I like OpTech straps on my SLRs/DSLRs, but they're kinda overkill for something like a G1.

Depending on the project, I use three straps: 1) Leica original strap wrapped around my wrist, 2) Gordy wrist strap, 3) Hasselblad 1" strap worn diagonally across my chest for trekking. The Hasselblad strap is very comfortable on long walks. I jimmyed the ends to use on my Leicas and wrapped the ends in electrical tape to prevent scratching my camera. Works great!

The Domke straps are good, but the rubber inserts wear badly. There's a company called Upstrap that makes a variety of sizes, including ones for rangefinders, and their shoulder pad does not slip. The straps are quite long. They have an informative website and are very responsive.

the round lance straps r my faves...they will custom size them at no extra charge too!

lance gets my vote too! fantastic, well made straps.

the advantage of the round one is that you can very easily wear the camera across the chest, so the camera is to your side, then bring it up to your eye to shoot. the round strap will just glide across your clothes.
