I have three filters for my Super Ikonta, due to low light I want to remove my Black and White filter sometimes and get the one stop back. I have searched e bay for an S 40.5 UV filter and just can not find one. I want to make sure the lens has some protective glass on it for obvious reasons. My filters screw onto the lens from the front side of the filter for some reason and the lens hood just pushes into the rear side of the filter.
Help please............

James.

My old man bought the camera in Stuttgart back in 1953, still have his receipt from the dealer. The lens is the Zeiss Tessar F3.5 Opton. Is that the same as yours.

It all depends on which version of the Super Ikonta you have. Sounds like you have the late post-war model.

Check eBay for a 40.5mm UV filter. At one time, I had about half a dozen of these for my various Sonnars for the Zeiss Ikon Contax rangefinder.

Zeiss Ikon, Voigtlander and others made various 40.5mm filters. I've bought a number of them on eBay for a reasonable amount ($10 or less). If you want to buy new, I believe B+W makes them, but they can be pricey. I paid about $60 or so for an infrared filter.

If it is a 40.5mm screw-on filter, there are a multitude of old Russian/ Ukrainian filters for Jupiter-8 and various Tessar lenses. At least some of those must be UV only.

40.5mm filters are used on a lot of different lenses

While not super common like a 52 or 46 mm filter over the years there have been enough lenses made that uses this filter thread size.

Ps forgot to mention... The way your filter screws into lens is very unusual though.. Front part into lens (the reverse of the norm).. Not sure if normal 40.5 will really work. But the norm was a push on filter back in that period.
