Took a wild punt on cv 50mm 2.5 Color-skopar on eBay being sold as untested blah blah you know the drill, probably broken!
It looked on in the pictures and it was half the going rate when all was said and done ...
Thing is, it appears to be missing the bit that couples with the rf couple ... Does that make sense?
Here, a picture:
All my other cv's have a bit if black plastic there ... ?
Is there anyway to get another, or have I just bought an expensive scale focusing lens

It is normal, the focus cam is the brass helical ring

Have you put it on a camera and tried it?
Yep ...I might be daft for buying dodgy lenses off eBay, but I'm not (entierly) stupid
I have tried it on the rd1 it focuses as expected at estimated distances but the rf doesn't couple until infinity where it is vastly out...
There definitely seems a bit missing to me...

Yes - you are missing a "tray" that threads around the rear element. (At least mine has one)
Guessed as much ...
So ... Any ideas where I might get such a thing?

Cosina? Or maybe a local repairer can get one for you and fit it. If it doesn't need some sort of calibration, I wouldn't have thought it would be too pricey to get a repairer to source it for you. Even if it does need calibration, it probably wouldn't add much to the price. I guess the idea is to try and keep the overall spend less than a similar condition lens with the bit still attached.

Try CameraQuest, it's owner Stephen Gandy is the Head Bartender here.
Stephen might be able to get you the part from the factory if he doesn't have it in stock himself?
If all goes south, sell it online for use on a micro 4/3rds or Nex camera, these do not require RF coupling! It's a heck of a sharp lens!

That's a fine bit of thinking!
Cheers everyone!
