anyone have an extra screw for the shutter speed selector/winding ring on a Kiev 4 or 4A? I just noticed one of mine is missing. It's one of the three screws around the circumference of the knurled knob that holds the actual shutter button and chrome surround in place. If anyone has such a spare screw, I'd give it a good home 🙂

There is a joke here. I'd make it, but this is a family forum.

Family? Pretty sure that I'm the (one of, if not the) youngest kid on this forum, and positive that I've heard almost every sexual joke known to man.

Oh well.

Oh boy.....I'm logging off and shutting down my computer. This may re-open the "porn" thread.

Anybody have one laying around, just shoot me a PM for my address. I'm sure it will fit in a standrad leter envelope with no additional postage. I'll happily send a print in return. I just don't know where else to source one.

Yes I think I have it let me know where to send.

This kind of spare-part-sharing seems to go on on RFF quite a lot (experienced it myself twice the last couple of months, via PM-contacts with members, once to obtain a part and once providing a part).

Not sure of the RFF-owner is listening in, but wouldn't it be a good idea to organize a special folder for parts exchange?

I'm thinking of this kind of information exchange:

- members listing the parts camera's they own and which they're willing to share parts from

- other members making a request to obtain a part from a specific camera

- members listing specific needs for unlisted parts

There are some side-constraints to be fullfilled:

- all exchanges should be in principle free of charge (at least for parts that go via normal letter post, even abroad)

- there should be some limitations on the number of parts a member can obtain, or there could be a credit system related to the parts you make available yourself

- members who obtain a part should be motivated to describe and document the repair they're making

What do you think?

I don't know about others but I don't have the time or patience to look at more than a few forums - for example I never look at the classifieds even though I suffer from as much GAS as the next guy. A request for parts is more likely to be noticed if posted in a forum relevant to the part sought.

I find the sharing of parts and information among enthusiasts around the world the entire raison d'etre for these forums; I would not like to see these spontaneous activities limited by rules and restrictions - if it ain't broke don't fix it!

^ I agree. Wouldn't pushing this kind of thing into a separate subforum be akin to killing it? Where it is now is like the impulse-buy at the cash register - it might not strictly belong there, but everyone sees it which is why it's there.
