Hi Everybody.. Long time lurker here.. Although I am coming up on 20 post.. Anyway, I've had it with my Canonet 28. The thing just never works right and it's become very unreliable. Although I must say thanks to Greyhoundman I did get the shutter to work.

So my birthday is coming up and I want to take a bigger leap into my RF photography. I would say my budget is $200-300. For the whole kit. I was looking at the used Bessa L listed on cameraquest. http://cameraquest.com/inventor.htm and maybe the Bessa R. The problem with these is I can get the body but then buying a lens would be pushing it. So my question is what other body should I be looking at? Is it even possible to get a relatively new Rangefinder in that price range?

Thanks,
Ivan

Maybe a Bessa R with a FSU lens. An excellent Jupiter-8 (50mm f2) is about $2 - $30, depending on where you live.

How about a Canon 7 and the J-8? I know it is not relatively new, but is new better?

I looked at these but can't find anything that doesn't have a bad meter, or wrinkled shutters or something that is off..

A bessa R with A jupiter lens sounds good though.. I'll have to look into that.

A bessa L is not a rangefinder?! Good thing I asked.
