I'm thinking of playing around with a photoblog site, on WordPress and I'm looking for advice.
First, I'm current on WordPress, minus two years. 😉 So, I can stumble through.
Here's what I want visitors to see on the home page: One large photo, either my choice or the latest posted. Below that photo is a row of thumbnails. Arrows to the left and right of the large photo allow movement through *all* images on the site. Arrows to the left and right of the thumbnail row allow the user to shift it, say, 10 thumbnails either way. It would be nice if the thumbnails were synched with movement through the large photos.
I want galleries using the same display confined to subsections of the image collection.
The only thing I want to happen when a user clicks on thumbnail is the display of the large image. The only thing I want to happen when a user clicks on a large image is the display of the original file. That means I want auto resizing, so I can post a 2000x2000 px image, say, have it display at 960x960, and at 2000x2000 when the 960x960 image is clicked.
I have come across some WordPress photoblog themes that restrict the number of images to something very small, like 40 or so. Obviously, I want to avoid those.
I'd welcome specific suggestions, especially about themes purchased from businesses with records of bug and security fixes.
Pointers to existing sites are good, too.
Thanks.
