This is the first Yashica camera that I bought from ebay about a week ago. I was really happy to see it in my mailbox when it arrives today. However, I found that my camera is not functioning right with the new battery. I just want a confirmation whether it is a problem on the camera's pad.
1.) the yellow light remains lit when i press the shutter halfway no matter which directions I turned the aperture or range regardless of indoor or outdoor.
2.) When I pressed the shutter all the way down (with the film lid opened...and I can hear a quiet "click" noise but there were no spring action noise or anything), I found the shutter remains open. And it wouldn't close unless I advance the film lever a little.
3.) the red light never lights up.
I read articles from Yashica-guy and Matt's Camera page. Can anyone tells me what's really went wrong with my camera? Is it the pad of death? or the CdS? What do i have to do to fix it.

(**UPDATE) Took the top plate apart, and I found...
1.) The pad of death is still intact. I believe it is yellow color.
2.) When I advance the lever, press the shutter, "click", however, the shutter blade doesn't move at all.
3.) The spring underneath the shutter button looks like it was "over-wind."
4.) The red bulb is still good.
I'm not quite sure whether the contacts in the lens are bent or not. Does anyone knows why my camera's shutter and why the yellow light wouldn't go off? Would it be the 4LR44 battery I recently bought from Ritz is dying?
Tomorrow, I'll look at the battery compartment and the adjacent wires to see if it is corroded by taking off the bottom plate. And clean out with electrical contact cleaner. I think I'll get a new battery to see if it works. Wish me luck.
