Hi folks,

Does anybody know of good photo mag publishers? I'm looking to print a small batch (maybe 50) of magazines with black and white photos on good paper. I had an idea to make the individual pages perforated so that my friends could rip out their favorite pictures to put on their walls. Anybody know of companies that offer customization options like that? I am hoping to keep the cost low, so I know I will probably have to compromise my vision for this compilation of my work so far.

Thanks everyone,

Jon

I published a short-lived zine back in the '90's, Dateline Unknown I did my own typesetting work, the physical paste-up and layout boards, and I even made the half-tones myself, as it was a photo-heavy publication. The first issue I had printed by a professional printer. It was costly. I perfected my half-tone process a bit and the next two issues were photo-copied. The quality was a bit less than the printed issue, but, hey it was a zine, so the main objective was the content, not necessarily the quality of the product.

Times have changed and it is much easier to publish a zine. As bojanfurst mentioned, Blurb offers a magazine option. Do a bit of research and you can find self-help books on creating zines. Good luck! It is a fun experience.
