Finally got around to checking into what was mucking up the works inside my 440 turret finder, and found this:

Zeiss Ikon 440 Turret Finder_2 by br1078phot, on Flickr
It's on the inside of the prism, so as far as I'm concerned, it's shot. Unless someone can instruct me on how to un-cement the prisms and reglue them. Anybody have a spare prism for sale or trade?

You might consider writing to Henry Scherer. He has reglued the prisms on two 440s for me as part of cleaning and relubing. I think he uses a modern UV cure optical glue to replace the original Canadian Balsam.

Well, since I have but the one lens with the camera, and no idea as to when I'll get some others, I guess I could give Mr. Sherer a shout. Thanks for the info on what kind of glue they used on there.
