Trying to rangefinder adjust and clean a FED-5.

Rangefinder adjust is no problems but get stuck at the base plate. There are 3 screws to remove but it does not release the base plate. What am I missing????

Thanks in advance.

Top plate or base plate? The top plate has three screws. I suggest you want to remove the top plate in order to adjust vertical rangefinder alignment. (the base comes of with two lock's.

If thats the case, it's not neccesary! The front cover plate of the rangefinder, with the name FED5 on it. Comes of when moved leftwards, like a spring. Than you can acces the vertical adjustment.

I hope this is the right info, good luck!

Thanks for the info.

This is the offending beast.

I have removed the name plate for the horizontal adjustment with no problems.

I would like to remove the top plate completely so I can clean the viewfinder and meter windows. If have removed the three screws that hold the top plate. It loosens the plate but it does not release the plate.

Any other suggestions?

Cheers

You need to remove the frame counter and wind lever from the right hand side of the body, plus the shutter speed selector dial. I have a feeling you'll also need to remove the rewind knob and possibly the exposure calculator dials. There's quite a bit more holding it on than you might think. Be very careful with the frame counter, it's also more complicated than you probably realise.

Thanks for that info wolves3012.

I am starting to think that the viewfinder and meter windows can stay dirty for a while longer!
