Hi everyone, I just got a battered Olympus 35RC to be my first restoration experiment (victim?). I have never repaired a camera before, but after reading a lot of the repair threads on the forums, I decided to try.

The camera had been dropped as the top plate is deformed at the advance lever corner. The deformation interferes with the advance lever. I'll like to get some idea on how to straighten the top plate. There is corrosion in the battery chamber and the little metal plate is not attached to anything. I took the bottom plate off, and pulled out the plastic battery holder. The screw that holds the metal plate has snapped. Anyone knows where I can get a replacement screw and washer? By the way, I have never soldered before. Is there any alternative way to attach the white battery wire back on to the screw w/o soldering?

Besides the mentioned damages, the camera actually works. The shutter speeds sound accurate. I could use the camera as is, but I get the camera for cheap, so want to get the light meter working again.

Thank you. I'll check my hardware store. BTW, I am trying to take the top plate off, but cannot figure out how to remove the rewind assembly. Any idea?

Jason.

Do I remove the center screw first? Or just turn the entire rewind knob w/ the center screw still in?

Jason.
