The improvements are well worth installing. Good work Nate!

Really looking forward to support for flatbed scanned images. Sticking with my original workflow using Adrian Gabor's PS plug-in until that happens.
 
Hi Nate - are there any plans to widen out the LR compatibility to version 5, please? I'm rather maxed out with post-processing software and would normally have no need to upgrade!

I would love to, but I'm afraid I'm limited by what's available to me in the Lightroom SDK. Many of the methods I use to make Negative Lab Pro work weren't introduced until version 6.0 and later.
 
Hey guys. I'm trying NLP with epson V700. Have pretty weird results. Does anybody have satisfying scans with this setup?

What I tried:
1. No gamma correction
2. Gamma correction 1.8 with neutral tones picker on unexposed film.
3. Gamma correction 2.2 with neutral tones picker on unexposed film.
 
I took a look at CP and it seems to me difficult to use and requiring a learning curve.
As to NP, I am not familiar with LR. Long time ago I took a look at it and it was immediate dislike.
Now PS has non-destructive editing (via layers). Where is the difference?
Besides I always work on a copy. Just in case
As too cataloging I find simpler to use the file system, which is more than adequate to my needs
Bottom line: will a PS plug-in arrive or should I try CP and waste more of the little time I have available to work on my archive?

Sounds like you are looking for a good color-neg conversion in Photoshop.

See this thread for details and examples of several approaches in PS.

A couple of key points:
- Staying completely in PS, invert with an big sweeping curve
- Using Color Perfect worked best by running RAW files thru MakeTIFF

I prefer Lightroom, so I'm using that route.

This is an excellent Photoshop negative conversion plugin, and actually still my favourite way of doing it.

I suggest you read this entry in the facebook group and then download the profile for your V700. Needs Vuescan RAW DNG (not Tiff!) as of now.

And be aware that scanner support is still BETA.

So I wouldn't judge the tool's abilities until it's officially released.
But so far I can tell you: it works very well with my V700.

Yep, thanks, started following.

I tried scanning with Epson scan software without using profile for conversion :)

I just followed instructions from the NLP website.

[B]Flatbed Scanner Tips[/B]

  While DSLR scanning is preferred, it is still possible to get great  negative-to-positive conversions using Negative Lab Pro with a  flatbed-scanned negative.While the exact instructions will vary based on  the scanning model and software used, here are few tips to keep in  mind:[LIST]
[*][B]Scan in Positive mode with maximum bit depth[/B] - for obvious reason.
[*][B]Turn off all adjustments except for one: use the white-balance picker to sample the film mask[/B]   - if your scanning software allows you to set a neutral grey point, do  it now by sampling the film mask before your scan. In my testing, this  resulted in much truer colors than trying to sample the non-RAW file  later in Lightroom. The exception to this is those using VueScan  software and saving to RAW DNG file. While this is not actually saving a  true raw file, it did allow for truer white-balancing in Lightroom.[/LIST]

Version 1.3 is coming soon! It looks like it'll be drastically better for film scanners which will be great because I had some really weird results on some of my recent Portra 160 images.

Any updates? Was thinking of finally pressing the button, but it seems like development has slowed? Still at version 1.2.1. This post from February said 1.3 was coming?

Join the FaceBook group for Negative Lab Pro. Ask there for the location for 1.31, now available, designated as Beta, but being used by lots of people and it's very solid.
