This firm is slowly building a very quality line of lenses. I finally purchased the X-E2 with a 14 after much thought on my old faithful line. Those other lenses with an adapter will fit me well into the future.

what?
Definitely has my attention. It'll be a long wait, but I'll be reading the reviews when they get here. That silver version looks delicious !
(Now if they would just put a Bayer array sensor in the next ILC buit like the X-E's .....

I just got a full frame and was thinking of selling my Fuji X-E1, there making it
difficult to do.

The new lens seems really nice... but too bad it is stagnant with its bodies.

I love the 50 efov, and this one looks very appealing!
The old 35/1.4 is no slouch, though, and not too big at all.
And yes, I'd really love an updated XP2 to put either one on.
P.S., looks like there's also a water resistant 18/2 coming along as well (note the new "R" designation).

I know where you are coming from, but it's refreshing to see a company that's not on the same Sony/Canon/Nikon treadmill and is focusing on building a stellar system. To me, one of the big appeals of the X-Pro is that it was not replaced 2 years after launch, and to this day it remains the only camera with a hybrid VF and interchangeable lenses.

Yes - but if I had to choose I'd rather stagnate with my x-t1 and ponder fuji's considerable native lens choices than live with limited native lens choices and ponder new alpha bodies. Wait, I did choose. YMMV.

I can understand that. I only use 28mm - 55mm generally, so Sony works better for me. The X-T1 is a great camera...it just wasn't for me. The X-Pro1 is just too slow with the lenses I like. I like Fuji, but I need a responsive X-Pro1 replacement before I can hop back onboard.

John, I hear you. If I could get 21mm to 90mm covered with native Sony prime lenses, I'd probably be shooting Sony. I'm flexible with bodies, but like to take care of my basic focal lengths with good glass.

The market where I live makes "hopping" into a less elegant affair. It is generally just so much more economical to buy only those things that you know are going to be keepers. I'm pretty happy with that, for reasons that go beyond my photographic hobby.
Hence, I applaud recent comments from Fuji management indicating an interest in finding ways to make camera bodies that have longer cycles. Although I don't think the XP1 really fits into that category the way it's being envisaged, it's the way I've approached the system, building up a basic quiver of awesome primes while the introduction of new features such as AF+MF has upped my hit rate in situations that otherwise could be frustrating.

i'm still using my xe-1 bodies...23 & 56 lenses and i am happy!

Yeah, I understand. It's getting that way for me as well. I'm keeping things longer. However, if it isn't working out for me and a camera is sitting around without, it needs to go. Things that were keepers years ago aren't the same a few years later. That's what happened with my X-Pro1. It's capable of great images, but just doesn't fit the way i work anymore versus some other things I have.

I almost thought that you had sold them!
I settled on 24-50-90 for my rangefinder film set up.
I woulda loved if that had been available for the fuji.
A couple of years ago I would have snatched the 16 fast.
But now I got the 14, 23 & 56. Of those, the 14 and 56 are really magical, I think. The 23 not so much, but it fits in well and does the job.
Perhaps once the 16 is out, and a new version 2 of the current fast 35 is available, I'll bite the bullet and switch back.

You can say that again.
However, I am having a lot of fun going back to my awesome film rangefinders. In fact, my ZI is coming back from Oberkochen soon, and we're going to celebrate with a new skin and strap.

i had the 14 but sold it when i was out of work...as i prefer a 24 to a 21 i might as well wait for the 16...for now i use the 16-50 zoom for any wide angle needs...
what brand are you using now?

My 14 is from Fuji. Reminds me of my ZM 21 C Biogon on film a little for its lack of distortion.
I definitely prefer 24 to 21, and would love to have something really compact and ultra wide to go with that.

My all time combo as of yet is my FM2 with a 20 mm f/4.0 and my Leica M6 TTL with a 50 DR.
I recently got a X100, and love the camera (sometimes I think its too easy and too sharp), but I have to admit I am struggling to shoot at 35 mm... its just too "in between" for me. Everything looks like a snapshot. I really have to remind my self to get two steps closer than I am used to, but I can't shoot from the "hip" as easily as a 20 mm. No mans land.
Long winded I know, but my 50 DR Summicron is my favorite lens of all time. I've seriously been considering getting the TCL for the X100, but its big.
This new Fuji 35 mm f/2 looks just like a 50 DR, and I just might have to get an XE-1 when the next generation of bodies come out. I am sure it will have a different character than the DR (everything does), but its near the same form factor and that is a HUGE plus.
I always lusted after a "Summicron" kit... A 28 f/2.0, 50 f/2.0, and 90 f/2.0. Fuji has made this more of a reality and I am eagerly awaiting the X-Pro 2. If its what we hope for, I will find a way...
