LOL. THIS. How many Sony A7/ILCE users here actually use native lenses with their bodies? That's not to say that the A7 camera bodies aren't great...but I think the A7's are one of the only cameras on the market that are bought by people with no intention of using native glass at all (full disclosure, I'm one of those people).
The Fuji X ecosystem is the most focused/flexible "new" camera system on the market IMHO. Amazing that it's already more evolved and flexible than other, older "compact" systems like Sony's, Canon's M, or Nikon's 1.
The Sony A7 camera allows for classic lenses to be used on a mirrorless digital camera with a full frame sensor. This was a revolutionary event and is the sole reason why so many Sony A7 users mount legacy glass on their cameras.
This is a HUGE advantage for the Sony over any Fuji. Want to shoot legendary Zeiss glass? Sony is the only game in town that lets you use these lenses as designed. Mounting a 21mm Zeiss Distagaon on a Fuji X-T1 turns an ultrawide lens into a moderate wide angle one. Not very impressive. Further, you lose a stop of depth of field too.
There are good native lenses for Sony today and looking at the road map Sony claims that there will be 15 in total available by the end of this year.

With all these great lenses, I decided to keep the X-E1. There's something about
it.

I can understand that. I only use 28mm - 55mm generally, so Sony works better for me.
Are u going to get that new 28f2 that Sony is going to release then?

Yes, Gary...I pre-ordered it.
The market where I live makes "hopping" into a less elegant affair. It is generally just so much more economical to buy only those things that you know are going to be keepers. I'm pretty happy with that, for reasons that go beyond my photographic hobby.
That's smart in general.

With our currency down the tubes, growth stalled, and our politics in a dark cave, there has to be a bright spot somewhere for a little intelligence.

I for one a super excited for the weather resistant 35mm. I wish it were 1.4 spec so need to see the IQ when it comes out. I just picked up the X-T1 with kit zoom and waiting on deciding on he next lens. The kit is to compliment my M8 so weather sealing is something I really want...
Have they set a date for when it will be available? Any pricing info?

I'm with you. I have yet to buy a native Fuji lens and would love for this to be my first. Small, sealed, and relatively fast. I've not used a lens faster than f/2.8 on my X-Pro. Can't wait.

Sure, I'll let you know. I'm not the testing type, but once I use it I'll give my thoughts... which are generally: sucks, good enough, or great.

Is there any word on the availability/release date of this lens?
I'm using the XE1 almost exclusively with the f1.4/35mm in leu of Fuji releasing an x100 model with a 50mm/135 equivalent FOV.
It would be great to have a smaller lens with a quieter and smoother af motor.

According to Fujifilm's most recent lens roadmap chart the 35/2 is next in line after the 16/1.4 Fujinon.
The 16/1.4 pre-preorder just began (it was announced on another Forum and involves a RFF sponsor). I speculate I'll be using the 35/2 sometime in the 4th quarter 2015.

Fuji's just-updated lens roadmap shows the 35/2 not hitting the stores until November.
