New 50mm 1.2 owner....the right thing?!

Mine arrived yesterday. Wow, it really is alot softer wide open than my 50mm Planar and the DOF is going to be tough work to overcome at any distance.

I've played around with it on my M8 so that I can get an idea of what it can do and polished off a roll of TriX using it too. I'll post some pics here when I get a chance.

I just got my 50/1.2 on the mail today! User condition: a few scratches on the front lens, a little oil on the blades, dented filter ring.

Since I can't use a screw-in hood and the original hoods are quite expensive, does anybody know if there are any aftermarket clamp-on hoods to fit this lens?

The clamp-on hood made for the Zuiko 55/1.2 fits the lens well, Antti.

I took the 50mm @ f1.2 out for a spin this morning. Did not find it too soft wide open:

They certainly look nice and sharp Hacker. I was probably being a little unfair and pixel peeping too heavily ( at the time of my last post I'd only been able to see those images shot on my M8 and not on film.)

I actually love the size of the 1.2, it seems to balance really well on my both the classic and TTL as well as the M8.

All pictures were taken on the M8 (@ f1.2). I had the lens overhauled by DAG and received it a few days ago.

Well, Roger, it's been a week now of leaving the Bessa L with the 15mm f/4.5 Heliar sitting amidst the clutter on the dining room table whilst schlepping an M2 with the 21mm f/3.4 Super Angulon everyplace. I'm back at the point where I can pretty much
know what will be in the frame when I raise the camera to my eye, but the damned rig is heavy. There's a lot to be said in favor of anodized aluminum instead of glass, brass, and chrome. I suspect that most people could adapt to shooting quarter second exposures. An occasional movement blurred shot can't be any worse than missed focus with an f/1.2 optic.
