new aquisition!!!! and question.

Loading, etc

Loading, etc

Well, the loading is going fine. Its actually quiet easy, as you guys certainly already know. It was the one thing I was a little leary about when comtemplating an M6. I changed film for the first time today in that I removed the first exposed roll and loaded the second. I was hanging at a belay stance about 300 feet up a rock climb. It was a breeze. I took the advice to just put the film in the camera and close the base plate with the leader tucked into the take up "spool". While loading I tucked the base plate into the little SunDog soft case that hangs clipped to my harness. Dead easy. I'm psyched. And watching the rewind knob turn as I advance film is of course a good double check. I've had lots of cameras without film check windows on the back and am used to giving the knob or crank a light spin to see if there is film loaded.
I love the brightness of the rangefinder patch. I love the feel of the camera in my hand. And I love that I can geek out here on RFF and ask you guys questions.
Unfortunately the sumicron seems to be getting stickier with use rather than loosening up. I think that whether or not I keep the lens instead of my hexanon I'm going to send it off for a refurbishing. $95 isn't that much compared to the cost of the lens and even if I sell it it'll be worth it as I don't have to worry about unloading a lens that someone might not be happy with.
Today as the sun goes down there are some reallly cool thunderstorms brewing and the eveing light on the thunderheads looks like it might be magnificent. Guess I'll have to go for a little walk after dinner with the new marvel in hand.
