New Blog: The Photo Fundamentalist

Tom, what is the title of your exhibition in LCF? I might be able to come by and see it. Exactly from when to when does this go?

Cheers, John

I find the blog interesting, but to my taste, there is too much technical stuff. Personally, I would be interested to know more about what is your thought process, and what makes you tick in general, plus see more of your photographs. This is at least, how I have decided to run my personal blog.
I think, there are enough gear testing sites on the net, it is the good eye, intelligence, and humanity that are scarce.

nice blog :)

... I don't want to run out of material and have people think I've stopped!!! I think this is where RSS feeds are useful for the reader, so you get alerted when new articles have been posted, rather than having to go back and check all the time.

despite many "bookmarked" comments earlier, methinks readers habits are changing and they will find your content more and more by "follow, and be alerted" (e.g. connecting tools of your blogging platform, social media like Twitter).
rather than old way of regularly clicking a bookmark (direct link or rss). for one, bookmarks tend to be ever accumulating and outdating pile. secondly, on mobile browsers, bookmark hierarchies are not as convenient as it used to be on desktop.

mfogiel, thanks for the input. I will be expanding the sections you speak of dramatically, but starting with a few general pieces, including reviews, was the easiest way of laying down some basic structural foundations. I have generally approached the reviews from a non-technical perspective, concentrating instead on 'utility' for the ambitious and dedicated photographer. Whether I pull of that balance, or whether it works at all, will come down to opinion and I will 'test and adjust' as I go along.

I will also find a way of splitting the display of the last 10 post down the middle between reviews and technique/behind the photo material, which will help lend balance to the site.

As far as direction is concerned, this will not become another gear review site and those reviews undertaken will continue to point towards serious application, preferably within the documentary, reportage and street realms.

Jarski, good points and thank you. I've used feedburner for the RSS so it should let you know when there is new material available. Twitter is next on my list, but any other ideas?

And for everyone, input in terms of what you'd like to see written about is very welcome. I also encourage anyone and everyone to post comments, ask questions and get involved in any way they wish (as long as its clean and does not involve horrible abuse of my character and or death threats!!!)
