new camera for Christmas?

Not a camera but...

Not a camera but...

Here's the new toy for christmas.

Dodgy shot of it on my bag, but a good enough shot. It's a 24" (24x7) Dogtown 'locker' skateboard. Old school setup.

I've been after it for a month or so. It's one of the shortest decks you can get that is still built to be used. Great for nipping around on, and a bit scatty since it's so tiny.

I've had skate decks up to 8ft long (yep, it was huge!) but short decks are quite for when commuting on buses etc. I'll use the 46" decks for summer 🙂

Come to think of it, it's the first NON-camera thing I've bought myself in ages!! 😱

Other than finally getting the Ricoh GR1 and Konica Auto S3 fixed and off the DL (still in progress – hey, I'm building up a new bicycle at the moment, too, but I'm getting off-topic enough as it is), nothing new in cameras, which is just fine. What I did get for myself was a nice, early-60s Lamy fountain pen, which was not bought as an heirloom, but near-daily use. It is to writing what an M2 is to shooting (which makes sense, since they were both made relative miles fom each other at roughly the same time).

Galfriend's getting a fountain pen for the holidays as well; she's been overly fond of borrowing mine lately for some reason...at least she doesn't give me the business about the money I spent on them any more.

Wasn't expecting to be getting myself any new cameras, but ended up with a trade opportunity that was way to good to pass up.

A Miniature Speed Graphic (~1939 - 1940) in very nice condition with three lenses - 90/6.8 WA Raptar, a 105/3.5 Zeiss Jena Tessar & a 135/4.7 Optar, a 2x3 Grafmatic & a couple of film holders. Thankfully Freestyle has Arista.Edu Ultra 100 in 2x3 for cheap 😀 I'd been thinking that my 4x5 Anniversary was just a bit too big for bopping around as a truck driver, but the 2x3 should be a nice compromise and complement my T90 really well. I'll probably make sure the Kalart RF is adjusted for the Tessar.

The pics are from the gentleman I'm getting it from.

I'm hoping the jolly old elf, or Leica, I don't care which, brings me a new sensor-control circuit board for the M8, Ho-Ho-Ho. :bang:

I saw the note earlier in the thread about fungus cream, and thought, hmm...Er, anybody know how to get fungus cream out of a 40s Summar?

Having been married for 40 years, off and on, I would say that a person should be very, very careful about what he/she says about a computer-literate spouse on a forum like this. What if the SO is taking a peek to see what the loved-one wants for Christmas? A new piece of Leica gear might be nice, or not, depending on how sharp it is, and where exactly it's shoved... 😀

Well, I need a another camera like I need an aperture in my head. But cleaning out my house I did rediscover a Kodak No. 3 Brownie in perfect condition in its original box. I also found some glass plates and very old negatives that I would like to print - old family stuff from my grandparents or before.

For me, another Barnack... once Oleg does his magic it should arrive just in time to go under the Tree.

edit: arghh! It took too long to get "down the street" to Oleg; so I'm aiming for New Year's.

Just got a 40mm 'cron from Sleepyhead, that'll have to be my present to myself. Don't know if the 50 'cron DR that I bought from Youxin Ye will be here until Christmas but I keep hoping! 🙂

A bag would be nice, pity those Domkes are so expensive! Maybe a Safrotto instead...
