New cameras for old - Leica wants to buy your M9

If these trade in cameras end up as certified refurbs sold at the Leica stores...
Leica will win me back easily.
The idea of keeping these older cameras healthy and out of the waste stream is very appealing.
If by some long shot Leica intends to do something like this.... I fully support it and believe others will too.
Imagine a $3000 Leica certified 90day warranty M9.

I search their stores for a used Monochrom now. Used items turn over quickly. This could work!
I hope it is more than a long shot :$

An update to my idea, I just found the following article from Petapixel by chance while looking for something completely different (as usual):

"Convert Your Old Film SLR Into a Digital Camera with the DigiPod"

Unfortunately the crowd-funding project of the inventor failed but nevertheless that was exactly what I was thinking off. Maybe in some years and with better technology?

Halfway between serious and wishful thinking. :)

I remember those attempts 10 years ago and also the announcements of similar projects that came later and were never realized. However, all those designs were based on the actual semiconductor technology. I am thinking about the next technology step, polymer compound based devices as have been already shown in prototype stage:

I hope they offer this upgrade out in Asia, We would all appreciate a little help when buying these cameras! I haven't seen the offer advertised yet.

it's cute seeing members become so angry about defending their medium of choice. :p

Film usage is reducing. Less shops offer film and services, maybe not in certain states of America, but the ROTW, yes. Such is life.

I'll stick to taking pictures of my gf and cat on my digital M. I enjoy that.
