Put an EF lens on even the latest Canon DSLR bodies (except the T4i/650D), switch to Live View and proceed to focus the lens. What you will notice is that the contrast detect autofocusing is almost as slow as that video, Sure, USM lenses are quieter (still slow as a snail), but these lenses are simply not designed for CDAF.
On another notice, IS and Aperture control for a more reasonable price is easily encouraging.
