New CV Bessa R4A with 21, 25, 28, 35, 50 framelines

Actually, the frame lines are 100% manual so every adaptor is the same as far as the Bessa cameras are concerned.

Wow, 50/1.5 may be a stretch I fear. I wonder how small the 50mm framelines will be in a .52 body, and with that small a magnification I hope the baseline is longer or fast 50s may be an issue.

For my purposes, focusing the ZM 50/1.5 wide open would be a bonus, but I am primarily interested in 35mm and wider. It is just that the limited pics I have seen taken with the ZM 50/1.5 are absolutely gorgeous.

Will there be a new 25mm lens to replace the recently discontinued 25/4 Snapshot Skopar?

I can't imagine Voigtlander would make a camera with 25mm framelines but no 25mm lens in the catalog.

same base length as the current Bessas (on which the R-D 1 is based) -- so let's suppose the rangefinder/viewfinder module is similar in size, attachment points, etc. Now suppose this module were available as a service part. How much would you pay someone such as DAG to install the module in your R-D 1? It just so happens that the existing framelines would do a pretty good job of covering the view fields of 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 21mm and 28mm lenses when the R-D 1's 1.53x "crop factor" is taken into account...

The R-D1 is built on a Bessa R3a chassis, same rangefinder, same shutter. But I'm not shure whether the 0.52x rangefinder of the announced R4a could be transplanted in a R-D1 without troubles. And if Cosina would sell the module is another unanswered question. But if there's a R-D1(s) successor once, I could imagine it's offered in two flavors, normal 1.0x (28-35-50) and wide 0.52x (21-25-28-35-40 or 50).

BTW the 12mm wouldn't be covered.

Me too. I had expected Cosina to announce the re-release of a rf-coupled 25/4, or even a faster 25, at Photokina. Stephen Gandy has hinted at the CVUG that Mr. K talked about a lot of new CV products, but he (Stephen) wouldn't be allowed to talk about. Considering the delay between announcements and availability (actually 6 months); it may take a heck of time until there is new CV gear in our hands. Next date for announcements might be X-mas, or PMA 2007.

I believe the Cosina Zeiss production has slowed down the Cosina Voigtlander product introduction pace; but postponed is not abandoned.
