New CV products?

If I were looking forward I would take what products I already have developed, and slap a micro-4/3rds mount on them. Little or no development cost, and opens a huge market. Maybe with an open standard, branch out into auto focus ... look at the pent up demand for the Panny 20mm!

Kind of like what was done in the F and EOS mount domains.

I had read somewhere a while back that maybe the 50 f/1.5 would be released in an M mount.

I'd love to see them do their own digital M rangefinder... an updated RD-1 if you will 🙂

WOW!! DPreview just annouced on their site that Cosina (Voigtlander) will release the 12mm f5.6 in 'M" mount along with a new 12mm finder....interesting...much like they did with their 15mm f4.5

Things are pretty fine as they are now.

That is also my assessment. When one steps back and looks at what is within the limits of optical / mechanical / economic / weight / size limits, CV has really covered the bases for 99.99% of applications.

Hey, I would like a $199 28mm lens that opens to f1.2, weighs 8 ounces, does not block the viewfinder, and with superlative optical performance. But the laws of physics tell me it is just not going to happen.

Mr. K is seems to be doing a great job of understanding the market and delivering products to fit. I would just encourage him to keep it up, cut back on new product development and build a financial war chest for the long term.

Would it be feasible for Mr. K. to do an updated version of the RD-1 under his brand? Who has the rights to what?

I'd like to see new RF's with new frameline combos released, but perhaps a more realistic guess might be updated versions of the Bessa R2 and R3 releases.

I was just browsing B&H's site and the have the 28mm/3.5 listed as a new item and without a known arrival date. Must be a mistake or maybe CV did another production run.
