That was from four years ago! I don't think it happened.

Real Men Shoot Film.
I'm hoping for an updated version of TMY3200P, with a lot less grain and better dynamic range. Ilford killed Delta3200 for me when they jacked the price through the roof.
What's it cost where you are, Harry? In the USA Delta 3200 is 80 cents a roll cheaper than Tmax 3200. These are prices at Calumet Photo. Delta $7.09 and Tmax $7.89 for 36 exposures.

Not that new. Starbucks is making a big fuss about their new "pour-over" coffee maker, which looks suspiciously like the plastic Malita filter holder I've been using for 30 years.
I've been using a little plastic Melita filter for the last year or so. I went though all kinds of coffee makers, most of which still clutter my cupboards. Really like сafetière, or French press, coffee but grew tired of paying exorbitant prices for a simple glass cylinder every time I knocked one off the counter.
The Melita filter has zero class, but it works just fine.

Dooh, didn't Kodak know film is dead?
Kodak builds the Leica M9 heart.
They invented the most famous BW film ever (Tri-X), the most famous slide film ever (Kodachrome), and some very good color negative films too.
They don't learn anything about photography from guys like you and me.
They well know the photography history, from the origins to what it will look like tomorrow.

Vicky, I'm sure if Ektar 400 comes to pass, it will be a fine film. Shoot lots of it. Kodak needs your help.
I see somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed today...or is sarcasm your middle name??
A 400 speed Ektar would get my vote..

Ronald, there are those that would argue that trying to keep one foot in film is actually holding Kodak back from becoming the digital company they want to be. Whether or not film is still profitable for them, it involves resources that might be better directed elsewhere.
man you sure go out of your way to piss on peoples enjoyment of film.
we get it, you don't dig on the celluloid... let the rest of us do so.

How could I possibly affect people's enjoyment of film? I don't like liver, but lots of folks still eat it.

i really am not the sort of guy to be bitchy on the ole web forums but seriously... rather than playing this silly game could you simply refrain from dumping on every single thread about others enjoyment of the medium?
you have spent many years working within the press industry... why not share some of you wisdom and experience versus telling us all how our preferred materials are doomed day in day out? how did you get started? what are some of the working lessons learned shooting dailies/wire? how can newcomers break in... you know, contributions.
i have read some brilliant posts from you Jim. really made me think. on the other hand you single handedly make me avoid this place for long periods of time with the constant grinding of the axe.
i apologize if i am coming off in as insulting. i just really enjoy this place and a lot of the folks here but sadly i come less and less because it just gets me down reading the Jim Powers rain cloud report all the time.

Last winter when I was shooting a lot in the gloom and at at night, Tmax3200P was almost 25% cheaper than Delta (in Europe).
Neither film is cheap, but shooting 2-3 bricks of Delta per month, plus DD-X adds up really quickly.
TMY-2 400 or Tri-X in Diafine and a good fast piece of Leica glass suddenly looks really good.

How about Ektar 1000?
Wasn't the original lineup 25, 100 and 1000?

FWIW, TMZ is cheaper than that at B&H. I think it was $6.50 when I ordered a couple weeks ago.

There are plenty of 400 color negative films. Ektar 800 and up would be awesome. However, Kodak hasn't discontinued Portra 400 or 800.
A Tmax 3200 replacement with Tmax 400 grain?

Judging from the use I see of the automatic SD card readers to prints an the loca CVS drug store, I am not sure that holds water.
+1
The average user has never heard of Ektar or Portra. The average user has never heard of rff. The average user knows Sandisk and card readers at CVS.
