New film from Kodak!

As far as NCPS goes, they have a budget scan option for $5 I think, which gives you 2000x3000 scans. Sounds actually like a much better deal than the monster sized scans.

I prefer the larger scans since I can then take the disk to work and print off 20x30 poster size prints with good quality.. I only wish we could still scan negatives. It would save me a lot of money..

Both Fuji and Kodak have changed/'improved' their films in recent years, smoothed out the emulsions and made other changes to improve them for SCANNING.

Ektar 100 sells like hotcakes.

My customers would KILL for Ektar 400!

Bring it on!

Sounds like a good use. I have a Coolscan here for the keepers, so I only get whole-roll lab scans for 'enhanced' contact sheets.

I think someone high-up in Kodak was surfing ebay one day and noticed... hmm those 20,000 some odd used film cameras floating around being traded everyday ... there must be a market for something to test those with ...

Eureka! let's release a new film! :D

On a related (albeit remote) note, I just saw a full-page ad in the (I assume) latest Shutterbug magazine. The ad is in the second or fourth page, not in the back at all.

The ad beckons those who still "love film" that the company still process film. What company? BWC, in Dallas, TX.

Film is dead? you wish.

Ektar 400 in 120 would be a real treat! I use and like portra 400vc/nc but I much prefer ektar's color palette.

I could live with Ektar 100/400, Fuji Pro 400h/800z, and never want for another color negative film.

Folks are sure going to be disappointed here if the new "product launch" Kodak spoke of is an ink jet printer. Somehow it's morphed into a new film.

Personally, I don't care if it is or not. I only shoot B&W in film anymore, and have plenty of that in the freezer. I just don't understand how the launch became a film launch. Since Kodak is on the digital bandwagon, intuitively it would be more likely to be a digital product.

I answered the question. You can axe all the color film, for all I care. I only shoot B&W film these days. And Tri-X in 35, 120 and 4x5 is all I need for my use.

Maybe because it was annouced by the head of marketing for film division... I a film related interview, on a film related webradio...

Pickett I seriously wonder what your problem is with film. You are always negative, always. Why do you make apoint of spitting in the soup all the time, why? Is it an ego question?

Seriously, I don't post a lot on RFF, but I have been enjoying reading it a lot for many years. And I must say that now I got enough and I had to post how frustrated I get to read your posts.

If people are happy, what's the point of confronting them?
If they shoot film and hope it will remain for a long time, why would you treat them as dreamers that refuse to see the reality?

My question is serious, why are you acting like that?

Someone got a link? I can't find anything current on that website with the search function. Would be interested in hearing it, though. There's an audio from February of last year and one from November.

I listened the interview and Scott Disabato did clearly say that there was a product launch coming up in the next couple weeks. He is the head of marketing of film. While he didn't say it was a new film, it would be hard to believe it would be a new inkjet printer or something, given the context of the 20 min interview.

Also, this same thread is going on over at photo.net, where it has been accidentally confirmed that it's a new film. Regardless, we should all know in a couple days/weeks.

Kristopher, you don't read many threads. I'm often positive.

Ok then, direct me to only one post where you had good words, encouraging ones, to people still using film and believing in the future of film in general. Only one post where you have been happy about a Kodak decision regarding film.

I would be surprised if you can, and if you do, well, there is a huge number of contraditions in your positions.

I shoot film. I have numerous film cameras. Including Leicas. I've added to my Olympus OM kit, and bought another 4x5 in the last few weeks. I shot film exclusively for 40 years, spent half my life in a darkroom. But my use of film and enjoyment of film, aren't going to save it. And just because I'm hard on the "film will be here forever" crowd, doesn't mean I'm not helpful in other areas. You can't see the forest for the trees.

If the rumours I hear are true, then "Pickett" has been banned from this board a number of times for the exact same behaviour.
