Just so all of you un-fun and curmudgeonly people can get an idea of what to expect from Lomo's new films, here's something I shot using Lomography Berlin Kino. Because of its soft focus and subtle contrast I was able to capture the gritty beauty of the streets in motion. So cinematic!

Just kidding, it's ORWO N74+ (says right there on the edge markings!), hand rolled by yours truly. You might be able to get a Lomo camera at that Goodwill though.

It looks like bleach-bypass,
I have never gotten that to work,
but it may be related to the fact that I use Tetenal's c-41 kit, with blix (bleach-fix) instead of separate solutions.
Interesting look, but if you scan your negatives, it is surely no problem emulating the look with any film.

After one day they have reached 70% of their goal.
The fun people have spoken!
What is that? 7.000 rolls - 0.2% of yearly film market?
Film is at least 0.2% fun. And going up!

The look of this new film is not my cup of tea. But for those who like it, a new film is good and they will probably enjoy it.
I am generally not a fan of Lomo. But at least this is a film quite different to others, new, and from a real film plant.
Not like e.g. the cheating JCH does with his Street Pan: Leftover warehouse stock, long expired, with very high base fog due to its old age, and the real speed about two stops lower than claimed (I've tested it, others, too, all get the same results).
Cheers, Jan

Skip Bleach Bypass meets crossprocessing interesting, the look doesn't work for everything but it will suit some subjects. Good news

Let's give them the benefit of the doubt; all those boxes and labels (which they're going to re-brand the film with) are expensive.
I do look forward to trying the new film and will test it extensively, but I am confident it will turn out to be just another re-branded film with a premium price markup.
Lomo get a pass from me for their re-branding of Kodacolor VR with the Lomo CN range. Sold at very affordable prices, especially the 800ISO version, which with the expensive Portra 800 are the only high speed colour films left.

Lomo 800's price has jumped at all shops in the US! A 3 pack 2 weeks ago was $14.90 at my local Samy's, yesterday $19.90. And $19.90 everywhere I've looked.
I really like this film and had already stocked up, but still that is quite a hike.

I'm curious to try it when it becomes available and see what it really looks like. Because with other film that Lomo sells, the results they post on their website and what I get is very different. They deliberately post 'lo-fi' images, but I get results that I am happy with (!).

Re, price increases. Been buying mostly B&W, Ilford and EK and there has been over the years regular price increases in both company’s products. At one time bulk loaded everything but hardly any price advantage now and sometimes it is the same price to buy regular 36X cartridges. Photo paper has had the same steady price increase.
Years ago I went to Freestyle for their bargains, short and past dated film and paper. That’s all history now, hard to find a real bargain.

Just checked and done the same here in the UK, up to £18.90 from £15.
£6.30 a roil is still acceptable for me. Hopefully it doesn't go much higher than that as its the only thing that'll keep me shooting colour film in the winter

Maybe not the "true bargains" of yore (like Freestyle's Arista Premium 400), but you can still get quite a bit of cost savings by bulk loading. I can consistently get 18 rolls of 36-exp from a 100-foot bulk roll. Using Ilford HP5+ as an example:
Ilford HP5+: $5.69/roll x 18 rolls = $102.42
Ilford HP5+ bulk roll: $74.95/18 rolls = $4.16/roll
What about Lomo's Berlin Kino (aka ORWO N74+)?
Berlin Kino 5-pack: $44.50/5 = $8.90 (nevermind the fact that it's out of stock)
100-foot bulk roll from FPP = $79.99/18 rolls = $4.44
So basically Lomo is repacking and selling the same film for double the price.

It basically moves the added cost of bleach bypass from the processing to the film. Might give it a try if I ever need the look.

They still have Kentmere bulk at B&H for $50, something I may try, at least the 100.
Back in the old days, early to mid 70’s for me, we didn’t use bulk loaders and could get twenty 36X rolls (5 ft. per roll) out of a bulk film roll.
We would take the bulk roll into the darkroom, unwrap it and load all 20 rolls in one go. Back then a box of 10 Kodak Snap Caps was about $1 and could be used many times.
I used my bare hands but would wash in hot water and high detergent soap to strip the oil off my hands. I didn’t have problems with skin oils on my negs.
Hi ho, halcyon days, long gone now.
And, those days I was packing a pair of Oly Pen F bodies and 3 or 4 primes so I got about 70 exposures per roll.
Mmmm, Tri-X and half frame, as much grain as you liked.

Probably the best bargain nowadays is Ultrafine Xtreme 400 for $39.95 (plus shipping). I can't comment on the quality as I haven't shot it yet, but it's a nice film in 120 format (which may or may not be the same emulsion, Ultrafine seems pretty tight-lipped about the manufacturer).

Well as expected Lomo smashed through their goal in 2 days.
I cancelled my pledge. And signed up for the mega pledge - $1250. With that one gets to stay with them in Vienna and 25 rolls of film:
"During the five days you’ll be staying in a hotel in the heart of the city. The trip is planned for May 2020 and covers the following expenses for one person (extra costs would apply for additional people): accommodation for five days, plus meals and drinks for two days. You would cover your own flights and other expenses.
oh and on top of that, you of course receive a goodie bag, accompanied by different workshops and a very special field trip!"
I actually think this is a killer deal. Essentially 5 nights in Vienna, with 2 days of being fed and watered, a field trip and workshops. As well as 25 rolls of film which would be $250 by itself.
If anyone has any questions they want me to ask the Lomo peeps let me know...

Anybody who's buying Leicas has no room to stand on when criticizing any other company for marketing hype.
Interesting though, that this looks like the Adox Color Implosion film from a few years ago. The big difference being the Adox film had very noticeable grain. This new film makes me think of the old Polaroid Polachrome slide film (high contrast, low saturation) - which was wonderful stuff.

There is a TLR in the camera scrum; could be a Rollei.
This is the ceiling of the Katholische Kirche Dr. Karl Lueger Gedächtnis Kirche in the Wiener Zentralfriedhof featured at the end of the Vienna video. Looking at it I need to check the neg and then my scanner and possibly the shutter of my MP (eek!).

Some good friends of mine live in the 13th district of Vienna, and travelling from their house to the centre on the U4 there is a section where the train goes above ground. I always loved to sing that song really loudly just as the train emerged into the light, much to the consternation of the Viennese commuters.
