i just bumped my hexar RF to the floor, around 80cm high. what a disaster!
during check i found that RF alignment was off vertically, and there is "ding" in top side area close to speed dial.

well, as i know how to calibrate, i just opened the top cover and did the trick.

what i found inside : the prism assembly where the RF patch will be (just behind the RF window) was "pop-out" from it base. there was glue in the bottom of it and looks dry enough. a simple fix i think. so i reglued it back, and adjust vertically for infinity and later on adjust horizontally.

in the past i have done this step, and the annoying part is I need to have top cover in place to be able to see the RF patch (the viewfinder optic on the top plate play significant role).

so i adjust the screw, put the top cover, look into it and decide how much i need to correct more, open the top cover, adjust the screw, and again put top cover back, and so on..
what an annoying step.

until, by luck I see that the top cover have a small rectanggular shape in front of hot shoe, i was wondering why the titanium cover need to have that thing on it. quick inspection showed me that IT can be poped open to access RF adjustment from outside !!!!

i don't know what the material of it, look like a plastic to me, but internally it has small claw to hold the rectangular shape attached on top plate. a small push from inner side, this pop out easily and then i get a rectangular hole in top plate above the RF adjustment area.
RF adjustment is so fast and easy after that

but still, if you need to do vertical adjustment, i don't think there is enough space to grab the round optic (of RF) and turn it from the rectangular hole, better do it with top plate open.

it is a good chance to double check if my "ZI-Finder Mod" is still valid.

hope this help.

Well Yeah, It's identical to the Minolta CLE, I have to get some electric tape one day and do the ZI finder mod, although the frame-lines doesn't bother me the slightest. Same as any Leica really, but Leicas have it at the front I believe. You live and you learn :)

You have to be careful if you go in with a screwdriver through the top hole.
The adjustment screw is precariously close to an optical surface of the rangefinder. [ (2) in the picture ]

You also want a "thick" screw driver blade... the slot on the screw is wide, and typical "jeweler" screwdrivers have vary narrow blades... repeated adjustment will start to wear that brass screw because of the mis-match.

There are also two small ball bearings under the overall platform that allows it to glide as you focus... hopefully they did not pop out after the impact.

Do not try to move the vertical alignment disc ("50390") through the hole -- there is no way to get leverage.

Hi, in deed CLE, ZI and KHRF are very much alike not to say identical on rf terms.

It´s imposible to me adjust them using the hole in the top plate, the scalloped round disc for vertical alignment is better manipulated with the top out, but before that must cut away a drop of soft glue that prevents from moving.

I made this to my late khrf and recently to a cle (i don´t understand why they get off being the disc so stiff!)

Hope you get your camera in order and enjoy it!
